Thank God for the apps, as don’t want to turn away from Jason Kubler’s enthralling, long match on 9Gem, but watching American Taylor Fritz’s 5 setter on 9Now at the same time (been a number of full distance matches today already).
Wouldn’t be surprised if many aren’t watching the main channel tonight, but instead 9Gem or 9Now or flicking, same for earlier today.

I’m not a big fan of McEnroe’s commentary and didn’t miss him in the couple of years he was absent. Courier in comparison is fantastic.

I didn’t mind McEnroe in the past, but hearing him tonight… well… does sound like my drunk uncle at Christmas time, and isn’t adding much to the commentary.

I also think Shura has been the game day host at Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs AFL games as of recent.

Why are they showing the same match on both channels??
It was a brief multi-screen moment, to show us the winning point in the second match.
It was distracting, as they were showing us that match with sound, while the Djokovic match was in silence.
If Kubler won, would of been the perfect night 1 for Nine

Sam Smith, Jelena Dokic and Sam Stosur calling what is now a very late match with defending AO champion Sabalenka, every chance it could go as late as 2am if 3 sets (2+ hour womens match) or even later. Men’s match still on too, Tiafoe’s, looking like he’ll lose the 3rd and it’ll go to a 4th and possibly even 5th so easily a post 12am or 1am there 
9Gem was scheduled to conclude at 11pm, EPG has “Madam Secretary” (30min were the gripping and heartbreaking conclusion to the Kubler match), could go 3 hours overtime!
Channel 9 scheduled to finish at midnight, which is obviously not happening. So also expect “New Amsterdam” and “Family Law” to pop up in Top 50 or 30 ratings codings tomorrow.
All this is good for Nine’s shares, Queensland and especially West Australian audiences with the time zones, but not so much New South Wales and Victoria.

Nine started with two Australians, Storm Hunter (neé Sanders) on the main channel, who is doing well and Taylah Preston on 9Gem, who got defeated easily and quickly, now showing 4th seed Coco Gauff.
Peter Psaltis and Casey Dellacqua calling the main channel for Nine, with Garry Wilkinson and Nicole Bradtke on the world feed. While David Basheer and Louise Pleming were calling 9Gem’s (world feed).

Interesting that young rising star (and son of a gun) and seed, Sebastian Korda, is relegated to Court 17 and no commentary at all, though good quality vision on 9Now and Stan Sport.
