For once it sounds like Nine made the right call.

Just because an Australian is playing it doesn’t mean everything should be dropped to show it. People want to see world class tennis, not blindly support someone because they happen to be Australian. That approach is very American.

Promo during the tennis last night made it sound like Nine are showing every Aussie match today

And the rubbish from Murdoch Press, newsCorp continues…

If it is Nine or Ten they are always all over it with a negative newspaper report!

I hope this organisation fails shortly. It’s not a gamble for nine, it’s the ausopen, Australians watch it no matter what!

Also the rights that were $500m aren’t even for this year, so this year Nine are making money for jam!

Ffs that organisation is worse than a fully used nappy after the kid accidentally had a curry!

Was it from Annette Sharp? She did a similar article two years ago.

9Gem goes 43min over, Channel 9 goes 2min under. LOL.

That’s disappointing to see then and bizarre for him to be writing a media-angled article. Almost seems as if someone pushed him to write that. I mean after last year’s stratospheric high with Barty and Nadal, you could’ve forecast 12 months ago that News Corp (and Seven) would be eager to shoot off articles like this at the first sign of some drama, maybe to make them feel better about their own investments not living up to expectations.

Even the grammar on the teaser doesn’t seem to make sense - “went all in the tennis” ??.

Far enough to write such an article after the tournament (or perhaps the first week) when viewer numbers are in.

Enjoying the Broadcast’s so far, Emma Lawrence is quite underrated on 9Gem, a welcomed addition to the team as is Nick McArdle.

I think Emma Lawrence is a very good addition to Nine’s tennis coverage. Previously, she worked on FOxtel and Channel 10. Emma Lawrence has a lot of charisma compared to Tony Jones.

Emma will probably be part of Nine’s Olympic coverage next year. Stan Sport just taking a world feed

Play suspended on outside courts due to heat, wonder what matches they’ll take now?

A dead tree has more charisma than TJ does.

Nine coverage really good today actually.

UPDATE: No matches will resume on outdoor courts before 5pm (AEDT).

No. They will most likely play as many as they can but some may have to be finished tomorrow

There are currently 10 matches suspended due to heat and a heap more will be delayed. No chance of all of them being abandoned.

Clearing up confusion, I meant for the day and resume the games tomorrow, not call off the matches. :grinning:
