Exactly, especially for a network that prides itself in being the only network with all 4 majors
Despite that I’m glad Nine is showing the Night Session at the US Open, and not making it a Stan Sport exclusive like at Roland Garros

It’s funny how the adverts on 9NOW advertise the US Open to be broadcast on Channel 9, but on the TV adverts are showing that it will be broadcasted on 9GEM
Update
Begins Tuesday live on 9Gem and Stan Sport
Kyrgios, De Minaur and Tomljanovic lead the Aussie charge

An all-star cast will fight for the final Grand Slam tennis title of 2022 when the US Open begins LIVE and FREE on 9GemHD and 9Now on Tuesday, August 30.
Nine’s exclusive broadcast will run for 14 days straight with a massive 136 hours of free coverage on 9Gem and 9Now from Flushing Meadows, New York.

In the men’s singles, Nick Kyrgios is aiming to go one better after making the final at Wimbledon this year, but he’ll have to take down the giant of men’s tennis, Rafael Nadal, and hardcourt specialist Daniil Medvedev.

Sam Groth busy with the upcoming state election I guess.
They didn’t show the Aussies this morning as they weren’t on courts with commentators. Surprised they didn’t try and find someone for at least Alex’s match
A post was merged into an existing topic: Stan Sport
The broadcast of Day 2 of US Open concluded at 2:50pm (AEST), 110 minutes later than scheduled.
Similar concluding time today. Can’t fault the amount of coverage . I don’t think there’s ever been more FTA coverage of a US Open.
It’s the first time we have had extensive FTA coverage of all 4 major grand slams.
I really appreciate the amount of effort Nine is putting into the US Open coverage, incorporating the graphics, choosing to showcase both singles & doubles, extending coverage on FTA rather than showcasing everything on Stan Sport. They really show how much they value having all the Tennis majors!
Day 5 Coverage on Channel 9
It’s fantastic Nine is using its resources to air Roland Garros and US Open both of which were on Fox Sports and limited coverage in the past
I remember Nine used to air the US Open in the past (if I remmeber correctly, before 2010 or 2011) but coverage was only limited to the daytime session (the graveyard slot AEST) and night matches would only be shown if an Aussie was playing.
I think it moved the tennis from 9Gem to Nine in AFL states due to NRL Women’s Premiership match on 9Gem in the afternoon.
The last time they showed from Day 1 was 2004. And even then it was 1am-6am with only rarely doing Aussie night matches (i do remember them missing a few lleyton matches)
From 2005 through to 2009 the showed the last 4 days with 2009 having the finals on delay because of the today show. So it’s been a while.
But yeah its been good. I had the Kyrgios match recorded yesterday not realising it would move to the main channel. Should of thought about that.
