Ahh. It’s on Stan? I was looking on 9Now and couldn’t find any live games.
So just looked on the app on my phone and Stan Sport is another subscription on top of the regular service. Is that right?
Bit rich to have to pay to see the live games while 9 is playing replays/delayed or whatever.
I prefer watching matches on Stan Sport, then I don’t have to put up with endless promos for “Married at First Sight”
Stan has the rights to the Australian summer since this year
No all courts are available on 9now as well. Stan Sport just doesn’t have ads and it’s a world feed in a lot of cases.
The Channel 9 feed switches to 9Go! during 6-7pm when there is News on the main channel
Stan is also 1080p50 and looks great. 50 frames per second is important for live sport.
9Now is only 720p25. You instantly notice the difference in smoothness when watching on 9Now.
Ok. I couldn’t see them last night. Just replays or not live coverage. I won’t bother again, just watch whatever is on 9 if the game interests me.
I had that issue with my Samsung TV, 9Now doesn’t have any LIVE TV on that, so I connected my Apple TV and 9Now app and it works fine.
I think it’s some Samsung tv thing that doesn’t offer the LIVE TV.
All the matches are live on 9Now, try your PC, Tablet or phone…
There are two live games on at the moment, the Kokkinakis/Kyrgios doubles match on 9 and Nadal v Shapovalov. And 9Gem is showing a movie from 1956. Just pathetic.
Is it contract requirements or a major oversight by Nine?
There needs to be more said about NineNow to viewers.
Just came to comment on this. To their credit 9 are doing as good a job as you can do covering both simultaneously, periodically crossing to the different commentators at the change of ends instead of ads… but why on earth not show one on 9Gem?! It was always clear in the schedule that these would clash so why not plan to fire up 9Gem just for the afternoon, or why didn’t they push Tennis Australia harder to put the Kyrgios/Kokkinakis match on later? Crazy
9 has exclusive rights I believe so don’t think it could be contractual
I cannot remember any instance of an aus open mens singles qf not being shown live on tv by the host broadcaster
i dont care who is playing and what country they are from…a grand slam singles qf should always take precedence over doubles, especially with the all time slam title record on the line
put the doubles on 9now ffs
there is a big comeback from shapovalov, potentially a 5 set epic in the making
anyone know who the producer is at 9 sport who has final say on which matches are shown live?
Disagree. There is massive interest in the Kyrgios doubles game and there is an electric atmosphere on court.
The Nadal game should be live on 9GEM instead of movies from the 1950s and Antiques Roadshow.
Singles should take priority still. This is doubles - with people only caring because Kyrgios is a shyster.
There’s two QFs to get away tonight - Nine also wouldn’t want it to crash timing-wise into Barty’s match.
ive got zero interest in doubles
Good for you. This Kyrgios/Kokkinakis match will rate its tits off.
The point is that 9 have multiple channels, there is no reason whatsoever not to use 9GEM and show both matches.
Exactly. While both the Nadal v Shapovalov QF and the Kyrgios/Kokkinakis matches should be shown on TV (and Nine are rightly being criticised for not using two channels to do so), they’ve clearly decided that prioritising Kyrgios & Kokkinakis is better from a commercial and ratings POV.
9 had form on this (cutting Gem a day early).
we are going 5 sets on rla
While Nine are copping a fair bit of criticism for showing this match over the Nadal-Shapovalov singles match (and rightly so, it should be on Gem), I bet they are licking their lips over what is happening. Highly competitive match involving two popular Australian tennis players, electric atmosphere, and it looks set to finish just in time for the 6pm news.
