“She’s had like 700 drinks bro” :joy:

Interesting that main channel (not 9Gem) being promoted.

According to advance guides, coverage of the first week of Wimbledon 2023 will be split between main channel, 9Gem and 9GO!, due to Nine’s NRL and Ashes commitments. So if viewers want to see the tennis in HD, they will have to subscribe to Stan Sport.

Or they could use 9Now.

Loosely relevant, but Tony Jones will again be part of Nine’s Wimbledon coverage. He was “farewelled” on the Sunday Footy Show today before he jets off tomorrow.

Nine’s Wimbledon coverage on 9, 9Gem and 9Go posted

I wasn’t expecting so much main channel coverage so overall not bad. Ashes were always going to make it shift to GO for the days the NRL is on.

I guess they are banking on the early round aussie matches to rate. They probably are aware that Nick most likely won’t play.

WIMBLEDON 2023

BEGINS MONDAY ON NINE AND STAN SPORT

Wimbledon, the biggest of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, commences Monday, July 3, from 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.

Over two weeks, the cream of the crop will battle it out at the All England Lawn Tennis Club for the Gentlemen’s Singles Trophy and the Rosewater Dish for the women, all on Nine’s exclusive free coverage, with the action also available to stream ad-free, live and on-demand on Stan Sport.

Nine’s Wide World of Sports commentary team will include Nick McArdle, Jelena Dokic, Samantha Stosur, Brett Phillips and Brenton Speed, with Tony Jones, Todd Woodbridge and Alica Molik on the ground at Wimbledon.

After reaching the final in 2022, Nick Kyrgios (World No.33) is back to go one better this year. Alex de Minaur (World No.16), Jason Kubler, Alexei Popyrin, Chris O’Connell, Max Purcell, Jordan Thompson, Aleksander Vukic and Daria Saville round out the Aussie contingent.

Coming in undefeated from the first two majors of 2023, Novak Djokovic (World No.2) is chasing history. He has won the past four Championships and has the opportunity to equal Roger Federer’s remarkable record of eight Wimbledon titles. If Djokovic triumphs on Centre Court, it would mark the fourth time he has claimed three majors in a year – a feat no other male player has accomplished.

Ready to redeem himself will be World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, who suffered from cramps in his recent semi-final against Djokovic at Roland Garros, while Britain’s hope Cameron Norrie (World No.13), who had a dream run to make the semi-finals last year, is another fancied contender.

In the women’s draw, reigning champion Elena Rybakina (World No.3) has had a strong year, making the Australian Open final and winning two Masters tournaments. World No.1 Iga Świątek is aiming to add a grass court major to her victory at Roland Garros, while Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka (World No.2) is a big threat.

Ah, I was expecting this, ah well.

And Kokkinakis failed to qualify too, plus still no Aijla Tomljanovic, oh dear. Good luck de Minaur and our youngest guns, but with Joker and new top gun Alcarez back plus the usual suspects of recent women’s slam winners, it’ll be tough mountain to climb for the green and gold

Wonder why they haven’t given the subtitle of “Host”? The super looks bare with nothing on the purple section.

Nine promotion for tonight. Somewhat misleading as the match doesn’t start until about 1am

Does anyone know if Nine announced during last night’s Wimbledon coverage that Ash Barty had become a mother for the first time?

Yeah, pretty early on I’m sure they mentioned it
