We know.
There will be even more tennis on Nine and Stan Sport next year, with Roland Garros and Wimbledon to be broadcast from 2021.
qWould Wimbledon be on when the Olympics are on? This could be why seven left
No.
Also, tennis is at the Olympics.
I imagine Nine wouldnât bother getting the rights to golf (with the tiny ratings they get these days and early morning) without these two partners/sponsors to essentially help pay for it?
Though it would âreachâ more and across digital plus these two sponsors are specifically after these demographics (golfing enthusiasts).
Precisely this.
Golfers tend to be of the category where they are well off, have disposable income and are always looking for the next innovation or piece of equipment to make their game that much better. Hence why broadcasts are so popular with advertisers, even if they donât rate massively they are connecting with an engaged audience that has cash to spend.
Same goes for Motorsport too. Doesnât reach a critical mass like football codes or cricket but a big chunk of those people watching Supercars etc are the same people whose hobbies are tinkering with cars, restoring/souping up their vehicles.
They will be interested for Stan Sport though.
Thereâs potential for high ratings if an Australian is in contention. I think Ten got 500k when Adam Scott won it a few years back.
Is Stan Sport included?
Will Nine use Skyâs coverage again or their own commentary team as in 2015
No. Read the statement and it says just on Nine.
If they have the rights at the time for local matches then maybe, but otherwise they will use Sky.
Well done Channel Nine for securing the 2023 Ashes in England. With the Ashes shown in prime time in HD, this will provide a substantial boost in ratings. (The Perth market would outrate Brisbane, Adelaide and even Sydney during the night on the primary channel) The ICC hasnât announced which cities they will host the 2023 Ashes Series in England but I think that Trent Bridge will host the 1st Test.
I think that CHannel Nine will take Sky commentary instead of using their own commentary. Last time I watched the Ashes on Nine (2019), Todd Woodbridge hosted the coverage from Melbourne studios.
I wouldnât say No. Itâs unknown. Stan Sport hasnât even launched yet and this in 2023. If Stan Sport is successful by then, then chances are Nine will simulcast on Stan Sport.
They did send their own commentary team in 2015. But more often than not the Australian broadcaster has carried the UK coverage of The Ashes. Hereâs a summary from the Nine Cricket Coverage thread:
Todd would most likely be in the UK as Nine has Wimbledon too now. So it will be back to the 90âs for Nine Iâm July, when they have both Major UK sports.
Great news thatâs it is again live and exclusive on 9. Great to have all this sport coming to free to air. The more fox is cut out the better.
