I stumbled across him filling in for Hadley last week and thought, today being a public holiday, he’d still be on. His calm and measured tone is quite a contrast to the bile and bluster you usually hear on 2GB mornings. Hopefully he’ll get a permanent shift if Jones goes or Hadley gets punted for his poor behaviour (unlikely, I know).
I really missed Stanley’s 2UE Breakfast show when Macquarie moved in and destroyed the station with the Talking Lifestyle format. Pretty sad that a Sydneysider has to resort to listening to a Melbourne station for an entertaining AM Breakfast show that doesn’t raise the blood pressure.

So too have been Mike & Fitz and Jason Morrison.
And 2UE’s best drive show was Paul Murray. Then the Two Murray’s at night.

John Laws just said (answering an email) he would love it if Alan Jones came to 2sm, but he does not know anything, he just hears the same rumour (as per the emailers question). It is none of his business if he (Alan Jones) is in talks or not with 2sm.

Jones had a caller this morning who mentioned about his possible move to 2SM. The caller went on to say how it would be a big shame for 2GB to change its fantastic line up and that the station would suffer and not be the same.
Rather than cut him off, Jones let the caller speak for about 45s before stating that yes his contract is yet to be re-signed and that up to this point he has still refused to comment on the matter.
IMO the fact he didn’t immediately shutdown the caller tells me that something is in the works. Management would surely not be happy hearing that caller go to air and be given that much airtime.
Still though, a cool little plug for 2SM on 2GB.

Thanks for this “thesub1”, I was only half listening at the time and did not catch the full segment and I thought that coming from this Jones had already signed with 2SM so maybe yes maybe no. Certainly was surprising that Jones allowed the caller to speak for some 45 seconds. I wonder what the outcome will be.

Stephanie was also on before 6:30 with a long spiel which boiled down to “where Alan goes, we go”.
Alan thanked Stephanie for the kind words and then said “as they say in the classics, no comment”.

If there’s been doubts in recent days about the future of Alan Jones at 2GB, will there be after the results of today’s radio ratings showed a healthy 1.2% increase during Survey #2?
Again, I’m personally not a fan of Alan Jones or his style of broadcasting. But from a ratings perspective, it’s hard to imagine any of Jones’ replacements (except perhaps Ray Hadley, even then…) getting a 16.4% share of the audience.
