Noticed that 3AW has brought back the awful re-record of the 3AW football theme this season. They did bring back the iconic one from the 90s last year, but the dull one is back.
Understand they need to include the Suns and GWS, but dear lord the newer version just doesn’t have that same vibe.
The audio when they have been at the Easter show at times the audio has been really bad the other day on Clinton’s program there was a really annoying echo. When they go to personalised ads on the app the timing is still out still hearing split seconds of ads and they keep playing the ad for clubs NSW in almost every ad break that ends with “magic moments”.
I don’t understand how that can be effective other than driving listeners mad. It’s probably a personalised ad and it is probably getting repeated because they have limited data on me as I do not use the 2GB app to receive the stream. Fix it. It can’t be that hard to have 10 or more ads added to the queue so the times the ads are repeated is reduced.
The echo was particularly bad this afternoon almost un listen able.. If the news is still sourced from Nine which I suspect it will why would the theme change? As I understand they have entered an arrangement where Nine will continue to provide the news to the new owners. I’m interested to see how this would work would any existing Nine Radio staff ie staff specific to radio ie newsreaders, reporters stay at Nine or move across? If they move across what services are Nine providing just like a wire service? Or will Nine do everything? I think we will find out in due course.
Jimmy Bartel (regular host of WWOS) has been doing his usual breakfast fill in spot with Mark Allen this week. Just heard them on Breakfast discussing finding a new name for Wide World of Sports due to the new ownership.
I think they even were going to take suggestions from callers. So I’m guessing once ownership changes they may immediately rebrand the show across the entire network.
Well Southern Cross Broadcasting (later Fairfax Media) did originally brand the slot as Sports Today, but I think SEN acquired that format along with AW’s then slot hosts Dwayne Russell and Gerard Healy, and continued it under the SportsDay title.
Sport on Tapt would probably be my first choice for the new brand though.
If the program remains in its current state-based format, I believe a program name incorporating the station owner’s brand would be the ideal approach, rather than branding each slot as 3AW Sport, 2GB Sport, 4BC Sport, 6PR Sport, or any variation thereof.
Why though? Localism is incorporating the brand name of the station not the company that owns it.
You still haven’t really given a reason as to why it should be Tapt?
“Nine” the company owned the station, they didn’t call programs “Nine afternoons” “Nine Sport”
The logical reason why it was labelled as Wide World of Sports is because it fit into the wider networks sports branding. Calling it Tapt Sport means nothing and is stupid in my eyes .
