Nine Radio (Talk)

Great to hear Sam Newman in with Tony Tardio (and fill-in host Glenn Manton) for his weekly segment talking about the current news stories on AW Nights. Must listen to radio!

2GB’s Facebook Page have just announced that Clinton Maynard will be hosting drive permanently - from Jan 27

Clinton Maynard to host 2GB Drive

Award-winning talk radio journalist and broadcaster Clinton Maynard has been announced as the new host of the 2GB Drive program in 2025.

Sydney Now with Clinton Maynard will launch on Monday 27 January 2025, airing from 3.00pm – 6.00pm.

Maynard has won four Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) including the Brian White Award for Excellence in Journalism for the last three years (2022, 2023, 2024).

He has also won a Kennedy Award and been a Walkley Award finalist. He has covered some of the biggest stories of recent years, including the COVID pandemic (attending more than 180 press conferences), Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, the Boxing Day Tsunami, Shapelle Corby’s sentence, the arrest of the Bali 9, the rescue of the Beaconsfield Miners, the Olympics, as well as countless floods, fires and protests.

Clinton Maynard said: “When I was 15, I walked into 2GB’s studio as a work experience kid in love with talk radio and spent a week with the Drive Show.

To be appointed to present that same show, three decades later, is a dream come true. I can’t wait to talk about what matters to our Sydney listeners every day and have a few laughs along the way.”

2GB Content Manager, Luke Davis, said: “Clinton Maynard is a Talk Radio specialist – he has dedicated his life and career to the medium and knows how to tell a story, entertain and connect with audiences. As we enter this new era of 2GB Drive, and a Federal Election year, there is no-one better placed to dissect the issues that matter to Sydneysiders on their drive home than Clinton Maynard. He’s ready and raring to go.”

Maynard joined the 2UE Newsroom as a cadet journalist in 1997 and went on to become a Crime Reporter, Political Reporter and eventually the News Director and Content Director at the station.

As a Presenter, he has hosted News Talk programs on 2UE, Macquarie Sports Radio and 2GB, where most recently he has been the Weekday Overnights host and the regular fill-in presenter on 2GB Drive.

Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft will host 3AW breakfast live from The Ghan Experience exhibition at Melbourne’s Queensbridge Square next Wednesday (January 22).

Radio ads promoting the luxury train journey exhibition have been broadcast on the station on air and in podcasts frequently.

No surprise regarding Clinton.

I guess that means Tony McManus’ Overnights program will be broadcast into 2GB and 4BC now.

Great news, give them a break from having 2am heart attacks

2GB: Your Local Sausage Factory.

Mark Levy, now Clinton… 2GB’s finally giving their B-team a promotion.

Personally, I would’ve chucked a Channel Nine and seen who else they could’ve found in the curtains no longer regularly on TV.

Maybe give Deb Knight her old role back and put Michael McLaren on Drive instead?

“C’mon get happy” (Owen’s theme song) won’t be your emotion hearing that mushy show.

Could be a lot worse…could be Closer by Nine Inch Nails. IYKYK.

I don’t mind Clinton. As a talkback listener 2GB drive and evenings would be the only programs I’d listen to. I think that Clinton and John Stanley have a similar calm style as opposed to being yelled at by someone like Levy or his predecessor.

Surely Nine could’ve found a female with similar views to have a go. Being a RWNJ is not exclusively a male thing.

Lucy Zelic certainly wasn’t the answer. Glad her holiday shift is over.

Yep. After all the shit about being a toxic misogynistic workplace’s, seems they haven’t learned their lesson.

Mike Jeffreys didn’t want to do full time overnights before? Let us see. I would like to see him on 2sm doing the evening show.

She only wanted to fill in due to having a young family from what I heard.

Fortunately it looks like us Northerners have been spared such a fate. Apparently Mike Jeffreys is going back to 5 overnights according to 2GB web : “from midnight each weekday”. Good news indeed
