Mark Levy announced as Ray Hadley’s replacement.
Mark Levy to host 2GB Mornings

2GB has announced that multi award winning broadcaster, and listener favourite, Mark Levy will host 2GB Mornings in 2025.
Levy takes the reins from Ray Hadley who recently announced his retirement from 2GB after a 43 year broadcasting career.
As a regular fill-in for Hadley and Ben Fordham across 2GB over an 18 year career, Levy’s long-standing connection to the audience and deep understanding of the issues that make Sydneysiders tick, means he’s the perfect choice to take on this new challenge.
Levy began his career in sports broadcasting, and has covered some of the country’s most significant events, including the NRL finals, State of Origin and Olympic Games as a key member of the Wide World of Sports and The Continuous Call Team – a role he will continue on Friday Nights and Saturdays during the NRL season.
He has won six Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRA), including for Best News Coverage this year, for his fast and accurate broadcasting of the Bondi Junction attacks where, along with Ben Fordham and Will Bottom, he led the way, leading to a 40 percent spike in listening.
2GB Content Manager, Luke Davis said**:** “Over almost two decades, Mark Levy has proven himself to be one of Australia’s most gifted, hard-working and versatile broadcasters – and a favourite of 2GB listeners. As we usher in a new era of 2GB Mornings, Mark will make the 9.00am-12.00pm timeslot his own, with a fresh take on what matters most to Sydneysiders.”
Mark Levy said: “As a young kid I grew up listening to the talkback kings and to be taking over a timeslot that’s been owned by a mentor and a friend for the last 20 years is something I am excited about and extremely honoured to do. I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead and I can’t wait to speak to our loyal listeners every morning about the issues affecting them in what’s shaping up as an important election year.”
Levy will take the helm of 2GB Mornings from Monday 16th December – 18 years to the day he first started at 2GB. He will broadcast throughout the summer period, continuing 2GB’s commitment to keeping its audience informed and entertained year-round with the very best live and local content.
I wish Mark and his burner accounts on Twitter the best of luck.
Seriously? Must have just gone for the cheapest option. Don’t think we will ever see 2GB at the top of the ratings in mornings anytime soon.
I’d have to agree. I was expecting a bigger replacement than just the understudy.
Then again, it’s a credit to Mark - it is clear that he loves & is committed to his job. He’ll be a mover & shaker in this role.
I really want to see what this means for Jason Morrison?
Isn’t the point of the understudy to be ready in training to take the role once available?
True. I probably could’ve used a better word.
The point I was making, is I don’t quite feel that Mark is as strong as Ray. Rather than “replace” Ray, they’ve just gone for the next best option.
I agree. A very surprising move. Underwhelming
Michael McLaren or even Chris O’Keefe would’ve been a stronger alternative.
Regardless of O’Keefe’s ratings, he is brilliant at making & breaking news. And let’s remember, when Fordham was on Drive, he wasn’t rating too strong, but look at him now.
2GB gears up for third annual Vinnies Christmas Radiothon

Tune in tomorrow as 2GB Sydney teams up with the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW for the highly anticipated 2GB Vinnies Christmas Radiothon – an inspiring day dedicated to raising vital funds for families facing challenges this holiday season.
Now in its third year, the Radiothon has already raised an incredible $300,000 over 2022 and 2023, proving the extraordinary generosity of the 2GB community.
Throughout the day, from Ben Fordham in Breakfast (5.30am-9.00am) to Ray Hadley in Mornings (9.00am-12.00pm), Michael McLaren in Afternoons (12.00pm-3.00pm), and Chris O’Keefe in Drive (3.00pm-6.00pm), 2GB will showcase the life-changing work of Vinnies and rally support for their Christmas Appeal.
Luke Davis, 2GB Content Manager, said: “Each year, the Radiothon is such an uplifting day for our listeners and staff, so the 2GB family jumped at the chance to partner with Vinnies for our third annual Christmas Radiothon.”
“On a daily basis, our listeners remind us how tough it is for everyday Australians to make ends meet. We also know that our community and partners are extraordinarily generous. Collectively, we can make a significant and very real difference to the lives of many this Christmas, and we’re looking forward to spreading some magic on Wednesday.”
CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, Yolanda Saiz, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with 2GB once again for the Vinnies Christmas Radiothon. The generosity of listeners over the past three years of the radiothon has been heartwarming and this year is more important than ever as households struggle with ongoing cost of living pressures.”
“All the funds raised through the radiothon will go straight back into the community, allowing our members to provide support to people experiencing disadvantage including food, clothing, accommodation and household expenses. We ask people to give what they can, every dollar will make a difference.”
Mark your calendar and be part of a day filled with stories of hope, kindness, and community spirit. Every donation helps bring joy and support to those who need it most this festive season.
The 2GB Vinnies Radiothon will air from 5.30am-6.00pm, tomorrow Wednesday 11 December 2024.
Just thinking about some of the changes at Nine Radio more broadly.
I can’t believe that Ross Stevenson is not far off 70. How much longer will AW hold onto him?
Despite the strong ratings, having a 70 year old host your breakfast show is probably not a great way of bringing in younger audiences, and the station could have a massive costs saving with Jimmy and Marko hosting full-time.
2GB will probably need a new fill-in presenter.
2SM just hired a 70 year old to takeover breakfast
how long did 2GB hang on to Alan Jones? And he’d probably still be there now had be not become problematic.
Vinnies might get more donafions if niine radio expands the radiothon to 3aw in Melbourne and 4bc in Brisbane as well
I reckon Russel Howcroft will go before Ross.
I think 3AW Breakfast needs a revamp, it is getting very stale these days, they tend to be playing more music these days and doing more and more inane talkback topics.
Does 3AW play music?
Occasionally. Music is usually played during Afternoons (12pm to 3pm). It was also played on Sunday nights during Remember When.
3AW tends to emulate a BBC Radio 2-style approach where music often serves as a personalized opener for the afternoon slots and adds a comedic touch to various segment intros. Additionally, during his Friday morning slot, Tom Elliot features a “Song of the Week” segment. Here, he selects a song or artist that best reflects an issue or topic discussed on the show throughout the week, tying the week’s themes together through music.
I don’t like to be too critical, but wow the female newsreader on 4BC/4BH this afternoon just gets SO MANY words wrong. Completely wrong pronunciation of fairly basic words. It’s actually painful to listen to her news updates as they tend to not make any sense due to the wrong words. She needs to read them through with someone before reading them on air because it’s truly horrible.
