Starting a current affairs program at 10am is untenable, theyâre just giving the ABC a free kick.
Should have gone with Gary Adshead - 9 to 1. Something to Fill 1 to 2 - 9 news or money show or a paid advertorial etc. Then Oliver Peterson from 2 to 6.
If they want to make cuts, they should drop their footy call team that covers games from a studio monitor, just take 3AWâs feed.
Only positive is Wide World of Sports is extended to 2 hours, like the old Sportsday/Sports Today.
When the Eagles and the Dockers play matches in Victoria, they have 3AW commentators (such as Shane McInnes) calling from the venue, joined by the likes of Brad Hardie who fly in from Perth.
That hasnât happened for a few years. Away games are called from Perth off a monitor. I can understand having a local call team for Eagles and Dockers away games, but canât understand why they have local callers for games not featuring WA teams when they can just take a feed from 3AW. Brad Hardie is based in Melbourne.
Nine were rather too hasty earlier in removing Julie-anne and Tod from the 6PR website, although they are back on again now. This is in contrast to Nineâs usual tardy approach to updating station websites, with the information often out-of-date and it can be difficult to work out the full schedule as sometimes 2 programs appear to be on at the same time
The Australian also has a report on Adshead quitting 6PR, adding:
The stationâs content manager, Emily White, has also called it quits, with spies telling The Australian she was unhappy about being left in the dark about the abrupt announcement of changes at the station.
I know Denis rates through the roof but surely at some stage both parties will tire of the remote broadcasting arrangement.
I didnât mind Steve Priceâs suggestion in the HS of moving Tony Moclair to Nights. His style of broadcasting is much better suited to evenings. Get a female voice back in Afternoons (be it Jacqui or someone else), and back to a Tom Elliott style drive show.
He is the only AW presenter who doesnât live in Melbourne, living in Geelong. I can understand why Denis does it, itâs much more convenient, but I guess when youâre hosting talkback radio itâs important youâre present in the studio, particularly given how much video AW record on the live cam to upload over social media etc.
Ray Hadley presents from home for a few days a week. You can host a talk back program from anywhere. But it would appear the more high profile the presenter the more flexible the arrangements can be.
