Nine Radio (Talk)

Former program producer Tim Bergh is back at 4BC on traffic. Tim had left radio early this year for the Commonwealth public service.

Long time afternoon traffic reporter Rhys Messenger had his last day on Wednesday.

Content director Max Dudley is away this week whilst this change of staff took place.

Jacqui who has yet to work a full week was away yet again on Thursday. Tony Moclair was on air in her place

Lukes dog passed away.

I think Jacqui’s filming commitments with The House of Wellness TV show can sometimes prevent her from hosting Afternoons.

As well as the ambassadorships that she has as well as other commercial commitments.

When one has as much talent as Jacqui, she must be in high demand! Seems everyone wants a piece of her. Be interesting as to what style she brings to drive next year.

Hi Jacqui, welcome to Media Spy!

As @Radioistillluoveyou eluded to, Luke Grant’s dog died and he had Friday morning off due to this.

Is Nine taking a more compassionate approach? Death of a pet time off from bereavement or sick leave?

Probably sick leave but who cares. If you don’t feel mentally able to work a given day you should not have to.

And who knows if the dog had to go to the vet or his kids were taking it badly?

John Stanley using the 4BC SMS number on 2GB. Probably because he’s sharing the show with 4BC announcers this evening - and I’d say it’s already programmed to flick to the 4BC number as usual this time each week.

Also good hearing Erin Maher doing Saturday evening news on the network for the referendum.

Judging by the 4BC webcam, looks like 4BC is the head of network for the special perhaps. Peter Gleeson and a panel operator appearing in the Brisbane studios. That might be the reason.

UPDATE: Seemed they wrapped coverage at 9.20pmish AEDT, before handing over to Brent James for some music on Saturday Night Live for the remainder of the hour. Surprised they didn’t keep going at least for Peter Dutton’s address.

The Australian reports today that Nine Radio stripped 13 commercial deals held by hosts across its network last week. This includes three partnerships with 3AW’s Denis Walter; all deals held by 2GB’s Bill Woods, Murray Olds, Murray Wilton and Michael McLaren; all deals held by 4BC’s Mark Hine, Bill Crews and Mark Levy; and a deal held by Karl Langdon from 6PR.

A Nine spokeswoman told the paper that commercial partnerships that must be declared under ACMA’s commercial disclosure standard were now all up to date.

I’m assuming these were simply deals done directly with talent rather than through Nine Radio?

It makes sense, ONLY if the announcers are keeping it separate to their Nine Radio commitments.

… Maybe the talent thought they’d get more $$$ if they dealt directly with the client? …

Or external to radio, not a usual radio client.

3AW is a mess at the moment. Three different afternoons hosts so far this week and it’s only Wednesday.

As Tony Moclair just said “I’m filling in for Jimmy, who was filling in for Jacqui.”

Spot on, I think by or before this time next year Jacqui will be gone from 3AW. She will bomb in drive, if she ever gets there.

They also need to make the announcement now on who is taking over from Tony Moclair for Australia Overnight. Is it Tony McManus or Pat Panetta?

Exactly right. She will bomb if she even gets to Drive.

From the limited listening I’ve suffered through with her she doesn’t take a stand on anything.

I actually never thought anyone could be worse than Dee Dee, but I was wrong.
