On the topic of guests, I really enjoy Peta Credlin who’s on every second Monday. Whether people like her or not, she offers interesting analysis and to her credit, always speaks calmly and concisely. Whereas Rita Panahi who’s on every Wednesday shouts at listeners who don’t agree with her and comes across as being very rude and dismissive.
Definitely agree with this. Afternoons should be the break in the day between Mornings and Drive with more relaxed content. Hopefully in a few months when the pandemic is pretty much behind us, Dee Dee won’t have to do as many editorials.
But yes, Elise Elliott is fantastic. She’s got a natural voice for radio. And Heidi Murphy was brilliant on Drive.
It’s a shame Nine don’t invest in a live gap filler shift during the six months of daylight saving.
A cursory look at 4BC audience feedback via Facebook shows many not happy about the non live content.
From my own experience, I can tell you that somewhere in the 3am hour, the city begins to wake and traffic increases with 4am decidedly more busy than 3am.
In a well funded dream world, go live at 4am into live programming weekdays at 5:30am and weekends 6am.
Luke Bradnam on weekends would be perfect for an early morning weekend show, fishing, boating, weather, breaking news & sport overnight.
Push Bill to 7, remove the 8am advertorial hour, a legacy of the MRN era.
Bill likely prefers finishing at 8am to head to his auctioneering.

What is a shame is losing the 2-3pm local filler hour, that was a great platform to trial new talent.
Both Bill McDonald and Olympia Kwitowski (unsure of spelling) spent many hours on air building valuable radio experience.
An hour outside of local bfast and drive is all that’s needed. The 2pm hour had enough local news within and still relied on advertorial style content to fill out some days when I had a chance to listen.
Nine need similar hours in Brisbane to deepen their talent pool for future long term; but more importantly, the fill in talent when the prime time line up is away.
Eg. who will fill in for Sofie Formica when she is off? When the regular talent is decidedly non radio (based on the trial weeks on air in June/July 2021), who on earth will be suitable to fill in?
For the sake of good radio, we can only hope Sofie Formica improves remarkably when on air in earnest and that EP Rob McKnight can really make a difference in the style that gun producers such as Brenden Wood used to bring to otherwise moribund radio talent.
I would prefer 3AW broadcast the entire two hours of Sportsday from 6pm to 8pm, rather than having to catch up on the first half on the station’s website, and the second half on Sportsday’s podcast website.
I find Brooke Corte and the content so so but would find a 7pm timeslot more suitable. I normally watch Ross Greenwood on Sky as I find him more knowledgeable and of course Sydney based.
On the subject of filling in … I have really enjoyed Joe Hildebrand on 2GB (and 4BC) afternoons the past two weeks during Deb Knight’s break. I like Deb but often find her very dry … a touch dull. Joe is a real character and er “quirky” to say the least. Would love 2GB to find a regular shift for him. Hopefully he will again be part of the Summer line up while the regulars are away.
