Shots heard on 3AW this morning when a caller, Pauline, described the incident unfolding.

Just a thought, you might need more subtle outro music.

Yeah that’s being changed soon.

Riveting radio. I think Neil has found his MVP of the year. You can’t beat a good eyewitness account of an unfolding situation. Pauline described the scene better than some professionals.

Correct, Pauline sounds a sensible, mature and together person. Those three attributes already put her in front of many who are paid to report today I’m sad to say. Excellent analysis @NewsWeary, agree with all you wrote.

Would be great if Neil’s team get Pauline on for a follow up when the MVP is announced. There has been none better this year than Pauline, ahead by a country mile.

Thanks also to @Leo_Puglisi6 for the audio, great to hear it in extended context compared to what I first heard via the AW site.

Correct, all at TAB have been aware of Craig’s intentions for some years now. The change of 3MP from an overflow station for SEN to the racing focus has the consequence of galvanising many within 3UZ, 2KY & 4TAB to either move, retire or settle in for what they know will be a period of huge change.

I’m not an avid sports follower, not enough to listen to sport formats for pleasure, however, the quality of the 4TAB breakfast show has been a top class effort for many years now, dating back to when Graham Kemp was the GM and former Lions player Richard Champion was one of the hosts.

The best era has been the last six or seven years when Psaltis has hosted 4TAB breakfast with John McCoy. Both great sporting broadcasters of different generations, together on air.

John McCoy left 4BC for greener pastures at 4TAB in 03 or 04 when BC was having one of its many management changes and the sports staff was downsized again. The racing radio sector has been a stable, calm environment for many decades, providing a reliable career for many. This may change with SEN’s future desires.

Peta Credlin has joined 3AW afternoons as a regular contributor. She made her first appearance today after the 1pm news.

A networked weekly Peta Credlin radio show would be successful, the audience research Nine are doing would show she’s a big hit among their current audience (if that’s the audience profile they wish to retain and grow).

Yuck no thanks, no wonder their audience never expand s

Nine launches new Superbrand: Money

Nine has used the 2021 Upfront presentation to unveil Money, its latest cross-platform superbrand which will live across television, radio, newspapers and digital.

The Money brand will be centred, in broadcast channels, on financial journalist Brooke Corte, who hosts Nine’s top rating finance program Money News on 2GB, 3AW and 4BC, and will also involve bespoke solutions on television and within Nine’s publishing assets.

“This year, Brooke has been a brilliant addition to the Nine Radio family,” said Richard Hunwick, Nine’s Director of Sales – Television and Radio. “On weeknights Brooke has been presenting, fast paced, in-depth and up-to-the-minute coverage of the day’s events with everything our listeners need to know about their finances and investments.

“We will now be extending that brand across all platforms. For marketers this will mean the opportunity to extend their involvement with Money right across our full radio footprint, across our digital and print platforms and on to television via bespoke updates in programs likes A Current Affair. Additionally, there will be bespoke sponsored extensions offered through Good Weekend or the Money section of our mastheads.”

“This year saw our whole world change and our attitude to money has too. Our finances have been snapped firmly into focus in 2020,” said Brooke Corte, the host of Money on Nine Radio.

“Personal finance has never been more important. I’m passionate about how we can cut through the noise to talk in depth about the economy, our household finances, and our small businesses.

“Australians are working harder for every single dollar, which means we are more focused than ever on getting a better deal on our mortgage, a lower rate on a business loan, and finding smarter ways to invest and grow our money.”

Nine will also to seek to utilize other on-air and editorial talent in the personal finance space as it seeks to build the Money brand across its unique combination of platforms.

Nine launched its superbrands strategy last year at its 2020 upfront with the aim of building its reach and audience across key verticals such as property, auto, travel and food.

“Superbrands was one of the key initiatives introduced via Powered in the last 18 months,” said Hunwick. “It was born from our publishing expertise, in verticals such as travel and real estate, and brings together Nine’s assets in a simple and coherent fashion, allowing clients to amplify their message in a relevant and contextual environment.”

Nine’s superbrands now include Money, Domain, Traveller, Good Food, CarAdvice and Good Weekend and Sunday Life.

So that may explain the bit rate reduction. Does this mean Nine Money will appear on DAB? Or is it just a segment on GB.

Reads like a new name for the weeknight Money News slot.

Maybe it is just me, but “superbrand” over states it a bit… It is just a Brand  .

No more Paul B Kidd?

Two reasons not to listen to any Nine talk radio station. :stuck_out_tongue:

Granted I’m not the target audience, but if I had no option but to listen to her, I’d want to stick sharp objects in my ears and go deaf.

Seems like they’re relaunching the old Money brand…remember the show with Paul Clitheroe? Do they still hold the trademark?

I still reckon the possibility of Nine Radio selling 64kbps to Pacific Star/Crocmedia/EON is a more plausible reason for the bitrate reductions of both 2GB and 2UE.

Yep, I agree. Probably a modernisation of the “Money News” program/brand for the post-Ross Greenwood era.

Still, you have to wonder if Nine Radio might’ve kept Talking Lifestyle running had the change to Macquarie Sports Radio not happened before the more recent purchases of Fairfax and Macquarie Radio…
