John and Garry announced this morning they will be staying on 2UE throughout the change. They said the station is “evolving” and that they did promo shots yesterday, I’m assuming with the entire new lineup.
So a bit of good news with them remaining at the station.
Sharina sells her private readings and club appearances on her program, and the merchandise of the other seers, so can we expect an expanded presence from her? She’d already know, wouldn’t she.
Should get her to board here. She could tell us when news bulletins are relaunching. Of course, that’s if she wasn’t a complete and utter rip off merchant
Good to hear ACMA is taking a keen interest in what is happening at 2UE. I just hope they have the balls to take action against Macquarie should they start passing off advertising as entertainment.
Julian Moclair has been announced as the new host of Australia Overnight on 3AW, 2UE and network stations. Used to enjoy him with Julian Schiller on Triple M back in the day. I fear the Overnight show will descend permanently into folksy chit chat now. I’m hoping he’ll take a leaf out of Bona’s book and put effort into making the show somewhat topical and informative.
I’ve pretty much given up on radio at night now. Just finding it too irritating. Tend to listen to podcasts if I’m having trouble sleeping.
Actually not a bad idea to share 3AW/2UE programming and 2GB/4BC programming. Putting a strong program on a weaker station is good thinking in my opinion.
Just don’t over do it MMN. We don’t want to see 2AW in Sydney.
George & Paul have been replaced this morning with Murray Olds and Luke Bona. I’ve only been listening from 8:00-8:30am and haven’t heard an explanation. At the end of the show last Sunday, George dropped a massive hint that they may not be back. I can’t remember the exact words, but I remember thinking it will be interesting to see if they show up next week.
“Well they would say that, wouldn’t they.” Usually they give a reason. It’s not illness - they are both not coincidentally I’ll at the same time. It wasn’t a scheduled break. It certainly seems to me like a protest move.
George has a family commitment, that is 100% correct. This is a post I saw on Facebook. There is nothing sinister about it, and they’ll be back next weekend. I imagine that the George and Paul show is profitable, so there’s probably no need to make a change there.
Thanks for the clarity littlegezzbear. With all the rumoured changes I guess you can understand our scepticism. Last weekend George thanked an emailer on air for his support as the station was undergoing changes. Basically the emailer said keep your chins up.
