The Australian reported today that Chris Smith has ruled himself out due to family considerations and Jason Morrison’s name is still in the mix.
I think bad blood between Hadley and Morrison is one of the reasons why he left 2GB for 2UE years ago. Not sure how much sway Hadley has with the new management but I wouldn’t be surprised if Nine saw this as an opportunity to inflict a blow on an increasingly competitive Seven News Sydney by having Morrison return to his old Drive slot.
Think he’s nothing more than a younger Hadley-clone. Certainly sounds like it judging by his tone regarding the Piers Morgan and Craig Kelly’s exchange last Summer.
The drive shift really should be given to John Stanley, nights to Michael McLaren, overnights to Luke Grant…maybe weekend overnights to Mark Levy although I’d personally prefer it if Susie Elelman again got a regular stint on 2GB rather than just occasionally filling in over Summer, etc.
You know, it actually wouldn’t surprise me if Mark Levy gets the morning shift at 2GB whenever Ray Hadley decides to call it a day.
Forget about his politics for a second: aside from being far from original, the fact he’s a Hadley clone isn’t an issue in and of itself for 2GB.
The real question is this: Who the bloody hell is Mark Levy?
Most of the 2GB audience would have a fair idea who John Stanley is, while Michael McLaren and Luke Grant are both long standing presenters of talk shifts. But Mark Levy? Granted, a whole asterisk of listeners would recognise him from Macquarie Sports, but even on 2GB he’s still just a guy from the NRL coverage.
However tabloid his appearances may be, at least Ben Fordham has a TV profile. Mark Levy has several Twitter accounts. Good luck with that one, Nine.

Fair point about the first three, but I didn’t realise that Ken Sutcliffe was a solely rugby league personality. Although he certainly was on-board to cover the big rugby league events like State of Origin and Grand Finals, from what I recall Ken covered a variety of Sports for Nine before his 2016 retirement from television.
No, you are correct. I just looked him up and he has worked on many a non-Rugby League sports production for 9 in the past. I just automatically associated him with League.
I wouldn’t have needed to have looked him up to know that he fronted Nine’s coverage of sport for many years, most notably Wimbledon and the Winter Olympics, and State of Origin.
