3AW has an outside broadcast van?
They do OBās all the time. Not necessarily a van, but they have a portable broadcast booth.
Would be very unheard of for them to use another stations studios.
Likely they will set up at a pub or something down there.
Glenn Robbins for 3AW Breakfast? Has he ever guest hosted?
3AW have an OB caravan that they use at major events such as the Royal Melbourne Show etc.
I would imagine their broadcast will be an OB - either from the caravan or a simple table setup depending on the location. Whatās the point of going to Gippsland if theyāll be stuck in the studio?
Not at all. Alan Jones has broadcast from 4CA in Cairns before (canāt remember why he was up there). Iām sure there are other examples.
Denying climate change will be the main theme of his broadcast. Hopefully heās run out of town.
In trying to understand whether people down in Batemans Bay and other fire ravaged places on the NSW Far South Coast would welcome an OB from Alan Jones or run him out of town, itās to my understanding that politically, they prefer the Liberals on a state basis but Labor federally?
If it was in Cobargo, heād be run out of town. Weāve seen what those people are like.
He should be run out of all towns. Best if he left this country altogether. Iāve heard he loves a stroll through the parks of London.
Alan could also go back to coaching rugby. He always got the best from the players - if they did not perform on the field he would threaten to pull them off at half-time.
Sully, itās Perth, everything gets a special exemption in the worldās most remote capital city. Look at Little Kerryās āspecialsā that TVW has (special concessions).
Would need a cold day in hell for that unfortunately, especially since its outsourcing.
Drive should be extended to 7pm for many on their long commutes across Melb. Very interesting to observe the sharp decline in traffic between 6 - 7pm (more towards 7pm).
Eliminate Sydney altogether between breakfast and midnight, shift sports into business slot at 7pm.
By the way, the Alan Jones cladding and Ben Fordham IT ads are quite jarring on AW when youāre not expecting their contrasting style of broadcasting.
I disagree, I was simply grateful for the simulcast. Never had a problem listening to Ray and co readers with NBN on 91.7.
I was bitterly disappointed when ABCās News Radio began and no 7pm simulcast of the TV news. Wrote them a nice, handwritten letter (primary school) and received a typical, bureaucratic reply.
Many of the weekly guests have been paid cash on a weekly basis at talk radio, both former networks.
Still a week to week basis, four weeksā notice etc for the more prized talent such as fishing/boating/surf reporters. I remember how easy it was for one of the surfing blokes to jump stations, they thought they had a contract locking them in.
Sounds like a dark place in a warehouse?
Perhaps he didnāt want to be a talking head during the daytime news bulletins that Nine often have?
Wouldnāt be a bad thing, prepare for Nine returning to TV rights perhaps.
Doubtful however, Iām sure Nine and AW are more than aware that too much change, too soon is too much for its audience. (so many ātoosā I know)
Correct! No big concern to the majority of the audience. Not part of the furniture like Jane Holmes on Neilās.
Indeed. Theyāre not going to risk big holes in their prime shifts.
Who knows, Bas might end up joining Thommo at St Georges Terrace if they offer enough?
Agree, that was the spin Jane or HSV wanted.
You do remember correctly. I was always at a loss that Hitch was buried at night, he should be a regular during the day shifts, heās far from Mike Moore, any yarn with Hitch is a good listen.
Would be a welcome change. Tom needs to put a broom through Saunders Street. Ross has been there prior to the UE invasion of 2003. The Rossā on GB is why UE did so well on weekend mornings long after the loudmouths had been poached.
Only for a small, blinkered portion of the population.
Very good! Iām just catching up with these posts as was away.
Much better option.
Can you imagine the calls from 3AW accounts to 7 accounts? Likely cordial at a counterpart level until a manager gets involved and the simple transaction becomes blown out of proportion. The salient problem with Aus media, too much time tearing each other apart instead of banding together. All for the sake of some egos amongst the exec testosterone.
You know the old quote, thereās 7ās story, 9ās story and truth is somewhere else (not in between on this I think).
Popularist polls. On merit, Fran, Ross, John streets ahead.
John is such a professional to play second fiddle to the egos of talent. Far more ālistenableā than many of the usual weekday talent.
MML had four +1 freebies to AW and GB and PR is borderline. Completely stripped the value of them. Iāve posted before about why they didnāt matter around their long lunches.
For 14 minutes? Far too long.
Find a pub of the week and bring Tony Leonard as well. Is Tony back for 2020 on AW? Have been hearing Tony Shaw on AW Friday after 11am for the last two weeks.
You are the most mischievous contributor @nickatnights, always the right humour, Iād go to a comedy show of yours.
Ok, thatās it, over 70 posts read and responded, been fun catching up.
Whatās your problem with The Project? Itās one of my favourite programs and Iām in no way blinkered! Did you get this opinion from the Murdoch press?
Haha. Maybe not you but the program is clearly aimed at a blinkered younger less educated demographic. A completely different demographic to those that would be listening to Talkback radio (ABC or Nine Radio).
Come on @tonks8526, educated people listen to 9 Radio? More likely uneducated blinkered right wingers. And I am a pensioner so I regard your post as an insult.
So get over yourself, age is just a number. The Project is for me a good way to catch the days news with a little bit of light relief. The only reason for the āblinkeredā remark are from those who donāt like Waleed and consider him left wing! Anyway this is supposed to be about right wing 9 radio.
Sandra Sully spoke to Deb this afternoon regarding her 30 years at 10.
Ross and John to Broadcast Live from Gippsland this Friday
3AW Breakfastās Ross and John will broadcast live from Gippsland this Friday.
The duo want listeners to join them from 5.30am as they broadcast from the Albert & Co restaurant located at Bellevue on the Lakes in Lakes Entrance.
This outside broadcast comes with the support of Visit Victoria as 3AW helps let Melburnians know that Gippsland is open for business.
Minister of Tourism, Martin Pakula, said that Lakes Entrance, along with many other tourist towns in south and east Gippsland, is safe, pristine and ready for visitors.
Speaking on 3AW Breakfast last Friday, Mr Pakula confirmed that the tourism industries in these towns are crying out for visitors. Tourism operators have said that visitors have been scared off by the bushfire crisis, even though many towns have not been directly impacted.
3AW will further support the region by broadcasting A Moveable Feast with Ross and Kate from Albert & Co restaurant at 11am this Saturday. Listeners are encouraged to come along and support Victoria in its recovery.
3AW will continue to take other programs on the road in a series of broadcasts to support other fire-affected regions that have been described as devoid of tourists. Further locations and dates will be announced shortly.
Ray Hadley and Bob Fulton to step back from the Continuous Call Team. Mark Levy to take the lead.

Markās Twitter accounts must be thrilled with this news!
Iām disappointed that Hadley didnāt mention Peter Jackson, unless I missed it.
Ray Hadley and Bob Fulton to finish full-time roles with the continuous call team
Ray Hadley and Bob Fulton have announced they will step back from their full-time roles with the Continuous Call Team on 2GB to allow the next generation of broadcasters to take the lead.
Hadley, a Commercial Radio Australia Hall of Fame inductee, is a founding member of the team which started in 1987.
Fulton, one of rugby leagueās Immortals, has been working with Hadley and the team for 32 of the 33 years the Continuous Call Team has broadcast.
Ray Hadley said: āI have worked either six or seven days a week for most of the past 33 years and it is now time that the young men and women who already do most of the heavy lifting are given their chance.
āBob Fulton is one of my dearest friends and he has helped guide me for the best part of my career. We have a long-standing personal agreement that we will finish our full-time roles with the Continuous Call Team together.ā
From 2020, Hadley and Fulton will consult and advise the Continuous Call Team, while Hadley will continue to call State of Origin games and the NRL Grand Final.
Hadley is contracted to Nine Radio for a further five years and will continue to present his top-rating morning program, which is heard on 2GB, 4BC and network stations around Australia.
āRay Hadley and Bob Fulton have been institutions not only of the Continuous Call Team, but of Australian radio, for more than three decades,ā said Tom Malone, Nineās Managing Director ā Radio. āWhile today marks the end of an era, we respect Ray and Bobās wishes to finish their full-time weekend commitments together at this time. I am delighted that both will be available to guide the next generation of Continuous Call Team talent into the future.ā
Further announcements regarding the 2020 Continuous Call Team line-up will be made shortly.
I hope they talk more footy now rather than the variety show it turned into. I guess if I want hear that tune into the ABC.
