Unless Nine try and Newshub it, an audio simulcast of TV news just makes for bad listening, okay filler on community radio (and horrible filler for the few commercial stations that take TV news), but in its current form isn’t exactly good commercial radio content - making lots of references to the vision.
You’d need to rework Nine’s entire operation and reporting scripting to make Nine News on TV be a good simulcast for radio.
Probably not that hard. 6PR appears to be largely forgotten about. Also, as a permanent presenter of a show he’d have a proper contract that would make him harder to get rid of straight away.
Price, who has lost audience share since taking over the show from Chris Smith earlier this year, was reportedly offered an unspecified role at Channel 9 but turned it down as it would require him to quit The Project on TEN.
Several members of Nine’s NRL commentary team and the AFL Sunday Footy Show are currently signed to other radio stations like Triple M, SEN and Crocmedia. If Nine insists on exclusivity, can it force those people to break their contracts and join 2GB and 3AW instead? Conversely, can Nine do a purge of 3AW AFL commentary team of people who are signed to Seven (Leigh Matthews, Matthew Richardson, Cameron Ling, Tim Lane)?
Oh give me a break Jane Bunn. You were part of a paid commercial spot. You were never part of 3AW as a staff member or freelancer.
There are a few weeping people on Twit after this little confected outrage. Don’t worry. Seven News will probably pay for her to turn up somewhere else.
Poor Graham Ross might be next… Unless Better Homes switches to Nine.
And what does this mean for Alan’s appearances on Sunrise? How much power does Malone have with Jones’ movements? Come on 9Radio… you do one, you do all.
… I love it how Price associates himself as ‘connecting with the younger generation’ because of his Project appearances (he said this when wanting to skew younger with his new Afternoons program) …
Does Price not realise The Project team takes the piss out of him because he is older?
Glad that the truth about Jane Bunn’s “termination” at 3AW has been revealed by station manager Stephen Beers in an article in The Age:
“Jane’s spot was a commercial agreement with Seven,” he said. “Seven have stopped paying, so the spot has ended. It was the same as a cross to the Seven newsroom we used to do in Drive. The stopped spending and the cross stopped. We didn’t sack Jane, Seven stopped spending.”
Maybe Seven and the RCH should get KIIS FM to be the radio partner (KIIS FM used to be Mix FM which used to be TTFM which used to be 3TT which used to be 3DB who was the radio partner for the RCH Appeal for many years).
