Nine Radio (Talk)

Just heard an ad with sponsored by… Talking Lifestyle on 3AW.

Well I guess he was put on the spot suggesting that Jones is now fighting fit and can’t wait to get back on air. As you said we will wait and see.

Any more whinges about having to sell 2CH when Singleton was on Hadley’s show?

It is hard to understand his mumbling but he seems to be over that now. I wonder when 2CH will/if depart the MRN building.

Give them time.

3 months after the sale went through was the original timeframe stated for 2CH moving out of the Macquarie building, so that would be mid-April. Not heard any more about this. Most timeframes are very flexible!!

Rex Hunt’s Footy Nightline actually started tonight at 11pm Melbourne time after the AFL season opener. Apart from its regular Friday night timeslot, it looks like it will also be broadcast after every Thursday night match covered by 3AW.

Steve Price is filling in for John Michael Howson who is away ill on Sunday Morning on 3AW this morning.

John Michael Howson had a stroke a few weeks ago hence his absence from 3AW. This morning former Premier Denis Napthine filled in for him. He will return to the airwaves next week.

There will be an extended edition of Nightline with Philip and Simon (with guest presenters Luke Dennehy and Fiona Byrne from the Herald Sun) tonight from 7.30pm to midnight AEST, as they broadcast from the green room of the Good Friday Appeal Super Show at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, interviewing guests and performers.

Howson told the Herald Sun he suffered a minor stroke during dinner on St Patrick’s Day (March 17). It had not affected his speech and brain power but weakened the left side leg and arm, and he is walking with a stick.

Bruce Mansfield has been honoured by 3AW on the first anniversary of his death. Mansfield and Philip Brady used to broadcast Nightline from the second studio at the station, and now that studio will now be named after Mansfield.

It was hilarious hearing Hadley lose it today due to the technical problems at the beginning of the OB. Sadly it’s been edited out of the podcast.

Most broadcasters have the wisdom to handle those situations on-air in a professional manner, usually making lite of the problems (while they may make their displeasure known to those who caused the issue off-air). Hadley just puts it all out there.

He’s probably gone to ‘pull someone’s ears’ and tell John Brennan ‘this guy’s lost his support’.

The good thing is that Justin could easily return serve twice as good as Ray.
