Nine Radio (Talk)

Someone might need to remind her that there is a live camera in the studio - caught her rolling her eyes at one caller. :joy:

All in all, really enjoyed Jacqui’s first show.

Herald Sun’s Media Street column reports that Nine only wants one host in each state for the rebranded Wide World of Sports program commencing November 1. Gerard Healy is reportedly reluctant to change his ways because he has always worked with a partner. Therefore, sources indicate Healy is considering three options: 1) return to 3AW and embrace the single host role with the assistance of regulars Matthew Lloyd, Leigh Matthews and Matthew Richardson, 2) move the show to SEN with Sam McClure and go head-to-head with WWOS, or 3) retire. When asked for comment, Channel 9 said the line-up will be announced in coming weeks.

It’s going around 2GB. Mark Levy has it and is broadcasting from home.

It also did the rounds at 3AW for a week or so there with Ross and Rus both off together with it at one stage. Then Denis Walter got it too.

4BC Line-up from last week and this week:

Breakfast - Spencer Howson (in for Neil Breen)
Afternoons - Tony Pilkington (in for Sofie Formica)
Drive - Peter Fegan (in for Scott Emerson)
WWOS - last week Bill McDonald (in for Peter Psaltis)
Weekend Mornings - Rob McKnight (in for Spencer Howson); also noting Jason Dasey was in the weekend prior.

The trio will begin at their new home next Monday. This means Neil Breen will move to Drive while Scott Emerson becomes a political contributor for 4BC and the wider Nine Radio network.

The music show…to the talk station?

Sounds like Nine believes a Ross and Rus style Breakfast show is more suited to the Brisbane market than the 2GB style show they’ve attempted with Breen.

Here’s the announcement as presented on Nine News tonight: https://twitter.com/9NewsQueensland/status/1543871833098813440?s=20&t=-X_96lYn3xhQEBPWWwHDfw

The show is being billed still as “Good Times and Great Hits” which seems to indicate there will be some music element of the program involved.

Music on a news talk station ? How does that work ?

They’ll play music and light chat in the mornings. Harder news at drive.

Surely there’d be a clause blocking 4BH/2UE/Magic from switching to News Talk.

So why can the landlord do the reverse and tackle their tenant at 4BH head on with the same Classic Hits format at breakfast?

Heck, if this is the way Nine Radio want to play, then ACE needs to switch 2UE back to talkback ASAP.

Interesting to see if they can thrive with the talk format around them. Perhaps they might even beat ARN’s 97.3 at breakfast

I’m assuming Nine would have had to discuss/clear this with ACE first but I’d be surprised if ACE are happy with this news. Makes their appointment of BBQ Bob to breakfast on 4BH pale into insignificance in comparison.

Does this mean if Kyle ever shifts to 2GB that he’ll take the CHR format with him?

I don’t think this’ll work.
