I just heard an add for Triple M on Magic 1278 which is strange

Triple Your… Magic?

Surely they’re not selling air time to other radio stations, even if they are not targeting the same demos… very bizarre how that ad could even get into Magic’s playout systems.

On terrestrial radio, or the LiSTNR stream?

Bizarre

Ace Radio recently changed streaming provider for the Nine Music stations from Streamtheworld to SCA (but not the rest of the Ace network it seems), so the Triple M ad might be part of the payment for the streaming service.

If it’s being served on SCA’s server then it’ll be part of LiSTNR’s dynamic ad insertion.

Are Jonesy and Amanda still on 4BH at 6pm weeknights? If not, when did they cease?

Nope. They were on from July 2022 to December 2022. JAM Nation never returned to 4BH in 2023.

4BH Classic Hits Countdown today is 1989.

2UE’s is 1968.

The 80s is my favourite decade, but 1989 was not a great year IMO

Strange that Gavin Miller does 2 seperate countdowns on 2ue and 4bh/Magic 1278 at the same time

How does he do that I wonder

Voicetracking.

And both sets of voicetracks probably done at least a few days ago with songs inserted in between at the production stage.

It might have been broadcast previously on other stations.

It looks like Ace made some changes to the format of Magic 1278. Its primarly playing songs from the 70’s now and they got rid of doing 10 songs in a row

They re introdued doing half hourly news updates doing breakfast as well

It seems odd to do this after the station finally got some traction in the last survey.

They’re playing some pretty bland 70s tracks too, along with occasionally throwing in obscure 70s album tracks.

And they’ve dumped “Jukebox Saturday Night”. Pity, as it had an amazing array of music from the 50s to the 80s, with a lot of big hits from those years that never get played on commercial stations in Melbourne.

…audiences in each city, Scott – who’s been with ACE for two years as announcer – now adds Content to his daily duties.

He’ll be working closely with Content Director – Metro Jon Vertigan and Operations Manager Dave Brunton.
