Ideas for Magic in 2024:
Get Ace Radio to buy back the 3XY Callsign from the ACMA as It’s The Traditional Name for the Current Magic 1278.
Promote 3XY as the Original Home of Top 40 in Melbourne & get Owners Channel Nine to Advertise the Rebranding of 3XY on 1278 & DAB+.
Get The Age to Post the Words, 3XY is Back, with the Hits of the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s.
With the AMCA premission, ACE should swap the current callsign of Magic which is 3ee with the Greek station 3xy. Give the Greek station 3ee instead
Why go to the bother? ACE only leases the station from Nine. It’d be Nine’s decision to change the branding if/when they decide to, which I highly doubt will occur any time soon.

The name 3XY is not registered to 1422 Radio Hellas. 3XY is (or was last time I looked) available to be registered.
Fat chance of Nine radio doing anything about it.
Well after Christmas, I’m gonna write to Both Nine Radio & the ACMA about Reviving the 3XY Callsign for it’s 1278 Frequency & DAB+ as Magic 1278 was born in 1935 as 3XY Anyway.
I like the name Magic. 3XY used to drive me crazy working in an office with all their repeat plays every couple of hours and their ads. Was happy when FOX and EON FM came along and then 3TT which became TTT, gave up when it became KiiS . Off topic but EON FM is more of a name to fight for, loved it, station and the name!
Yes I get there is some heritage with the 3XY brand from that era. I always thought the other Top 40s, 2SM and 4IP/Radio 10, sounded better though.
I don’t mind Magic as a brand but they could refresh the brand a bit - Magic NZ looks a lot fresher IMO.

Good Morning Melbourne, it is 1 minute past midnight, welcome to EON FM and this is the beginning of a very long time.
I was always of the 3XY camp in the 3XY v EON days. But i don’t think the XY name needs a comeback unless it can come with the same energy/imaging of the original and not just voice tracked intros. Otherwise what’s the point.
Whether the name 3XY returns or not (I support its return), Magic needs some urgent life. It sounds like an older version of Gold. They need to change the jingles for a start. The beauty about the old 3XY was the range of different jingles they had. Play a wider variety of music including longer versions of songs and not just radio edits. Play some more album tracks from classic albums. I think 3MP sounds fine so I would necessarily make any changes to 3MP.
A different topic but MMM Melbourne should ditch the sport and comedy and go back to EON FM just playing music.
Magic should start playing songs from 1990’s as well since I believe thats classic as well by now
The news on 4BH today has the newsreader giving the wrong time (it’s Sydney/Melbourne time), so they must be just taking a national feed today or something. They probably should just drop the time announcement if they’re going to share one bulletin across time zones though haha.
Better still QLD should go onto Daylight Saving Time
We need less time zones in Australia not more I think

Speaking of news on 4BH. I don’t like to be too critical of somebody’s profession but the regular female newsreader on 4BH (and I assume 4BC but I don’t listen) is pretty awful. She stumbles across nearly every bulletin, gets so many words and phrases completely wrong. It’s pretty unbearable to listen to. It’s like she hasn’t read through it even once beforehand. Honestly I think a high schooler with good English would do a better job most of the time. It’s pretty poor.
I also heard a news bulletin on Breeze over the weekend too that was pretty atrocious. Don’t know where they source their news.
I think the quality of news reading has really gone downhill on Australian radio in general. I compare it to the newsreaders on British stations and it’s night and day.
Yea. I’d like the east coast to have the same time zone. I don’t mind if that was the southern states abolishing DST or QLD getting it, although I know which of those two is more likely to occur. Or maybe we could all just move forward 30mins all year and leave it there, the compromise position hahaha 
4BC who supply news to 4BH take Sydney news (2GB) from 7pm and I assume on public holidays. They’re still very dependent on Sydney for news after hours.
4BH doesn’t run news overnight. I think the last bully is 6pm or 7pm
