About Time the Softer Music hits Magic 1278, 2UE 954 and 4BH 1116, Although Nine will still Own the Stations, Ace will Run Them Mostly on 3MP without the Soppy Crap.

Hopefully ACE have a better idea than the current management of Nine Radio in how to set up automation.
Can’t believe they still can’t time out to the top of the hour. Last night at 8pm EDT, the song on Magic ran out of puff about 20 seconds short. So we had the intro to El Condor Pasa. I thought maybe they’d dropped news in the evenings. But nooo. News came crashing in over the top of the now discarded Simon and Garfunkel song.

I’ve done some digging this morning.
New Logos can be found in the shared resources on the ACE radio sites:
ACE Radio have also purchased the following 1300 numbers recently:
1300 22 1278
1300 222 954
1300 33 1116
1300 002 954
1300 02 1116
1300 02 1278
1300 02 1377
For reference, 3MP use 1300 22 1377 as their studio number. I don’t know why they need two numbers for each station. None of these numbers are connected yet so we’ll have to wait and see.
They (re)launched at 6pm on Friday 3rd July 2020, so that fits.

good work finding those! The 2UE and 4BH logos I guess were always bound to happen. The Magic one is OK although “1278 & DAB” gets a bit lost being so small!

I wish they’d look at Magic UK for a point of difference. It seems AM stations can only be classic hits or easy listening in Australia.

I do like Magic UK. The playlist can be a bit narrow but when I’m in the UK I find I listen to it a lot driving around.

So it looks like it will be same log across 3MP, 2UE and 4BH.
Magic 1278 will most likely use the same or similar log to what is on there now.
It will be good if they can put the classic hits station on to DAB+ in Sydney and Brisbane too.

It would actually be good if they could buy 4KQ and keep the classic hits format of that.
4KQ and 4BH were sister-stations for a few years in the late 90s.

Correct, before 97.3 was bought by ARN/DMG with ARN managing it in 2001. DMG then bought 4BH, until they bought Hot 91 in 2002, then 4BH was sold to Southern Cross. Then sold to Fairfax in 2007. It’s had it’s fair share of owners!

The only one out those 3 would potentially be Sunday Celebration. Relish & Talking Fishing are very Victorian in content.
