I agree in that the ARN stations that have/do use 32 kbps at some point like WSFM 80s sounded awful… Coles does sound better at 32 kbps than WSFM 80s did.
And even that is a stretch. Nova in Brisbane is at 48kbps and sounds horrid. I think they are over processing to compensate for the low bit rate but it just ends up making it a muddy mess
Yes, WSFM 80s doesn’t sound good at all, yet The Edge sounds much better, both using 48kbs.
That’s interesting. In Sydney the Nova stations all sound very good, Nova 96.9, Smooth and Maria are all on 48kbs and have excellent quality sound. Even Smooth Relax, Nova 10s (40kbs) and Coles (32kbs) sound decent.
Isn’t this thread supposed to be about Nine Music?
I deleted and posted it here.
It is about Nine Music as well as DAB+ bit rates. There’s nothing wrong with comparing bit rates between different networks whilst discussing future possibilities for Nine Radio.
is that person’s username @TheRealBecHope by any chance?
Is it possible that Nine aren’t pushing 2UE that much yet because it might upset SCA?
Its also affecting Magic 1278
When did they start airing the Ray Hadley Country Music Countdown?
Not sure, but I heard the promo during the week. Good thing it’s on at 10pm Sundays rather than a more high profile timeslot.
Seems quite out of place for a greatest hits station.
I heard a promo about three weeks ago.
I noticed country music a few weeks ago on Magic but not sure how long it’s been on as I rarely listen to the station
Wish they’d cut back on the "Vinyl Revival"s, or whatever they’re called, that they’ve bought or dug up from somewhere.
I don’t listen that often, but I’ve heard the same ones three or four times. Irritating!
I Don’t know if has been mentioned here before but Nine have a new show for their Music network called “Back in the day cafe”, from the short time I was listening it seems alright, I think it may be the replacement for the Classic Vinyl shows that they have been running. It seems to also be a purchasable show for other stations. https://www.fxrs.com.au/media-content/download/353/Back%20In%20The%20Day%20Cafe.pdf
When does it air?
It appears the program is being made by Trevor Sinclair, as it mentions Aloha Media on the Nine Radio Syndication website. Trevor’s website:
It seems to run Sunday Mornings I think, It went off around 12pm when I heard it. next time I hear a promo I’ll edit this. I should also mention I heard it on Magic 1278 to be specific.
Edit: Back in the day cafe runs after Stevie Jacobs on Fridays after Mid-day.
