When Nine promotes the NRL in Victoria it advises that it’s on 9Gem in the promos but not the watermarks.
I thought a Tonight on 9Gem would be better suited to the market. I thinks it possible that Melbourne viewers see the watermark/s and think the NRL was on the main channel tonight and tomorrow - like it sometimes is. There is a big Nine as part of the watermark.

I believe you’ll notice the other elements of the updated package after tonight’s news. Nine appears to be soft-launching it today—line-ups started airing this morning. The version I saw was followed by a Stan promotion, which featured similarly curved branding elements.
