My theory is that they asked generative AI to look through Channel 9 videos on YouTube and try and make something like the ITV 70th anniversary ident, and instead it spat out that hyperactive, unfocused mess.
Edit: They also cribbed from Australian Television Archive the logo history video above, which cribbed from Australian Television Archive at the 15:13 mark (spotted by Matt Fulton on Bluesky).
