@TV.Cynic posted it above.
The channel you posted has a habit of changing VOs on their videos.
Ah okay my bad.
Warming to the graphics.
Minimalist split screen is on purpose, the transition to the breaking news background is stunning, and the supers animate slickly. Itās growing on me.
Still want to give him time, but Iām finding Steinfort to be quite wooden so far. Reminds me a bit of Mark Ferguson. Alicia is fantastic and would have definitely been capable solo.
Not a fan of the headline supers
IMO, Alicia and Tom sort of look like they donāt really want to be there, Alicia because Tomās there and Tom because he doesnāt want to be there full stop? It all feels rather forced from upper management, reactive to HSV-7ās ratings/Peter Mitchell and essentially pushing Hitchener to retire.
I agree - Tom is fine. No mumbling or stumbling⦠and he is known in Melbourneā¦he started in Melbourne
Heās not known here to the average viewer. Nine need to build his profile up.
if you have watched ACA, 9News when he was an overseas correspondent, Today and 60 Minutes⦠you would know him!!
But itās not a guarantee that everyone (or even most people) in Melbourne have. Nine viewers, maybe.
Tomās reading is borderline on par quality-wise but nothing extraordinary.
That blue dot that transitions across the screen looks stupid, as do the 2 circles on the intro. Not needed.
You and I know who he is⦠but the average Melbourne viewer doesnāt know his career or where heās come from. .
And the people who may know him are wondering why the guy from 60 minutes is reading the main bulletin.
Nine has a lot of work to do here.
And from that one-time Today Show stint in 2019, which also started at the Australian Open
That video has a different video the one that is on Nine Now. Peter Harvey voiceover still being used.
very odd thing to do honestly, i ask myself why and what purpose it serves.
Tom is a decent newsreaderā¦until you compare him to Alicia who would have to be one of the classiest newsreaders on Australian TV at the moment.
Hopefully he improves quickly.
Brb going to move to Adelaide/Brisbane/Perth/Darwin/NBNland to avoid the new graphics
I prefer Sydneyās
