Yeah it’s not working. Big mistake from Sydney on this one. Getting the feeling Melbourne management were over looked on this decision.
Dougal Beatty is a far better presenter. A lot of work needs to be done if they consist with Tom.

It’s only early days, but people need to remember that Peter Overton and Andrew Lofthouse & Melissa Downes also had rough starts early in their stints in Sydney and Queensland respectively.
Nine just can’t expect instant ratings success in the early part of the Alicia and Tom era. Yes, it’s a significant change from the Peter Hitchener era which proved to be very successful, which in turn was preceded by the Brian Naylor era during which Nine News was literally unbeatable in Melbourne.
I think the Alicia/Tom appointments were made with a long-term view of returning the station to its former ratings glory, as we have seen in the two northern markets.

As was Nine News in Sydney during the 2008-09 summer when Mark Ferguson was suddenly replaced by Peter Overton early in the latter year. Nine News didn’t win a single week in Sydney in the 2008 ratings season (and neither did they in Queensland, which prompted the Bruce Paige/Heather Foord breakup).
I’m teasing… but my point is, Tom’s not needed for this bulletin. Alicia could be doing this solo.

My 2 cents, it’s a good look, they should however rearrange the layout of the supers, get rid of the random side circles, and have localised titlecards, and maybe a remixed theme. Other than that it’s a decent package.

While this is the Melbourne Park backdrop it does seem like they have accommodated for a larger liveshot which could indicate a new wideshot once AO is over.
Guess I’m in the minority here but Tom is fine - clearly works well with Alicia.
The only real gripe for me is the supers and music, otherwise the package looks fantastic - especially on the set.

Tom is fine. Granted Alicia can easily hold this bulletin on her own but the two of them work well together and I’m not quite sure why there is so much hate.
Hopefully they fix the graphics but the presenters are fine.
