9 News Perth has just posted on their FB page that Perth weather presenter, Sherri-Lee Biggs, is joining the Melbourne news room in 2026. She has been with the Perth team for the last 11 years.
After more than 11 years on our screens, Scherri-Lee Biggs is bidding a fond farewell to Perth.
The beloved weather presenter is joining the 9News Melbourne newsroom in 2026 - we wish her nothing but the best! #9News
SCHERRI-LEE BIGGS JOINS 9NEWS MELBOURNE IN 2026
9News Melbourne welcomes Scherri-Lee Biggs as the new weather reporter and presenter, joining Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort every weeknight at 6.00pm in 2026.
Scherri-Lee has been with Nine for over 11 years, presenting the weather for 9News Perth as well as filling-in as weather presenter on TODAY during its summer series, reporting live from major weather moments and community events.
The former Miss Universe Australia has also been a familiar face across Channel 9ās slate of lifestyle and reality programs including Postcards, Destination WA and Celebrity Apprentice Australia.
Scherri-Lee, who has previously lived in Victoria for several years, is looking forward to returning to the state to join the Melbourne team.
āMelbourne holds a truly special place in my heart,ā Scherri-Lee said. āAs the home city of my husband, Daniel, we are greatly looking forward to reconnecting with family and raising our daughter, Isla, here. It is a sincere privilege to join the exceptional team at 9News Melbourne and work alongside Alicia, Tom and Tony, and I truly canāt wait to connect with the viewers.ā
Hugh Nailon, National News Director, said: āWe are delighted to welcome Scherri-Lee to the forefront of our news team. Her extensive experience and brilliant live broadcasting ability will be a wonderful asset to our newsroom. We look forward to Scherri-Lee joining Alicia, Tom and TJ in continuing to bring Melbourne viewers the most accurate and informative news, sport and weather they have come to rely on from 9News.ā
9News Perth Director of News, Michael Genovese, said: āScherri has brought professionalism, passion and presence to every weather report. She will be missed greatly by our newsroom and our viewers. She will be a great asset to the Melbourne team and we look forward to seeing her thrive on the east coast.ā
Scherri-Leeās first bulletin on 9News Melbourne will be on the opening night of the Australian Open on Sunday, January 18.
Why couldnāt they appoint Madeline Spark as the new weeknight weather presenter? She was the most deserving of the role.
Great get for Melbourne!
Wow! I just opened up my social. Huge deal to get her going to the Melbourne Newsroom and huge loss to the Perth team. I thought it was Natalia joining the Melbourne news team.
And please TJ donāt get another awkward kiss just like what you did to Bec Judd
I certainly didnāt expect that. I thought Madeline would be promoted to the weeknight role.
Wow what a kick in the guts to Maddie.
If this is true then Scherriās move is almost certainly the reason why. I mean sheās been there for so long and has been so loyal to Nine, and this is the way they treat her.
A lot of the comments on the 9 News Melbourne Facebook post were saying why not Madeline Spark.
9News Perth will be going back to the future with Natalia Cooper to replace Scherri-Lee Biggs as their weeknight weather presenter.
She previously served in this role between 2004-08.

Great choice there for Perth Viewers. But thereās a lot of talent in the newsroom at Melbourne.
Madeline is liking the comments herself on Instagram, that almost suggests sheās not happy with the decision.
Just came here to comment something similar, dropping News and staying on for Postcards is the rumour atm, but we all know not to listen to those!
Nine reporter Lily Greer named new US Correspondent at just 28
Brisbane reporter Lily Greer has been named Nineās next US Correspondent, securing one of the networkās most coveted foreign postings at just 28.
The appointment was revealed in an internal email circulated to Nine staff on Thursday afternoon, confirming Greer will relocate to Los Angeles in mid-2026 following a competitive national selection process.
The announcement caps a big week for the reporter, who will make her debut reading the 6pm news this weekend while the networkās regular presenters take summer leave.
Goes on to mention email to staff this afternoon and congratulations from Nine QLD head Brendan Hockings. Also quotes from Lily about the appointment and reading the 6pm news.
Greer will be replacing current US correspondent Jonathan Kearsley who is due to come back to Australia.
Greerās promotion follows fellow Queensland reporter Josh Bavasā recent appointment as Nineās Europe Correspondent in London, replacing Jess Millward ā whose husband, Joel Dry, is now the networkās 6pm co-presenter alongside Melissa Downes.
Millward is returning home to Brisbane this week after two years abroad, during which she reported on major breaking events across the UK and Europe, including royal coverage and the death of Pope Francis.
A lot changes at Nine News for the past few months.
Tod Johnston will probably do Friday-Sunday weather
