Nine News Presenters and Reporters

What’s happening in the newsrooms around the nation.

The article says that Tim is joining the Queensland Government to become the deputy director-general of the crisis management division. Tim is expected to spend the next couple of weeks working with young up-and-coming reporters at Nine before wrapping up at the network at the end of July.

Sound like Nine are ‘paying big’ to their on air talent but nothing is going back into their newsroom teams?

Post covid (burnout), and shrinking budgets, make them crappy places to work.
If you’ve been a reporter for a few years, there’s only so many opportunities to advance.
If you can get a big pay rise and a MtoF 9to5 role, it’s much more appealing.

But, I think there’s always been attrition in newsrooms.

After 21 adventurous years filing stories for Nine, I’m having a bit of a change with a new job.

I’ll be moving away from the day to day shenanigans of Queensland politics & heading to government department land for some new responsibilities, including heading up the Queensland Crisis Communications Network to oversee events like floods, cyclones and major police/emergency incidents.

I’ll miss working at Nine. It’s a great place full of great people and I’ve made many lifelong friends amongst the camera teams, producers & editors. A special thanks to the Qld leadership team of Brendan Hockings & Kylie Blucher for their unwavering support over the years. The newsroom is in great hands and I know it will continue to thrive.

Exactly. When he missed out on the 6pm gig to Joel Dry, this was inevitable.
