He was the sports presenter for the regional composite bulletins from March 2017-March 2020, before he was made redundant by the network in August 2020 when Nine downgraded their regional news to a single statewide bulletin.

I believe he’s been living in Sydney for 10 years. Most likely just moved back to Melbourne permanently.

Not sold on Tom as a newsreader, he’s about as good at reading the news as Todd Woodbridge is at being a game show host. Lots of room for improvement and I gather they’ll give him time to adapt to the role.

There’s a lot of off script banter / laughs / non news like chatter (even when reading stories) with the new Alicia / Tom setup in Melbourne. It’s almost like Tom thinks he’s still hosting today rather than presenting the 6pm new bulletin.

Maybe that’s what they’ve been instructed to do? Otherwise if it was an issue, they’d no doubt be given advice to tone it down.

Hitch and Tony would share a joke at the midpoint of the bulletin almost every night, and lets not forget about the input of Allan Raskell…
