Do you mean 6pm Melbourne?
As expected, Georgie Gardner is presenting Nine News Sydney tonight - as she begins her stint replacing Peter Overton through summer.
Kate Creedon was presenting weather in Sydney on Friday, Belinda returned on Saturday night though.
The Weather presenters worst nightmare. When the autocue freezes. Good save Justine!
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but it appears Rory McCLaren has left Nine and is now reporting for ABC News SA.
I believe he left 3 or so months ago now.
They just keep losing their most experienced reporters.
Itâs because they mainly rely on trainees from interstate, who then leave. Rory was one of the few local faces so whatever they did to not hold onto him was a mistake.
Media Diary in The Australian reports that Peter Hitchener will cut back to a four day week in 2022. Alicia Loxley will read the bulletin on Fridays, in addition to weekends, indicating that she is being viewed as Hitchenerâs heir apparent.
Iâd assume thatâs also in addition to her afternoon news stints on Monday and Tuesdays. But good move if it means Alicia will succeed Hitch when the time comes.
Good move. I wonât be surprised if Hitch retires at the end of next year now. Alicia is the clear successor. Will be a sad day though when he reads his final bulletin.
According to the article, a Nine insider said that this move is a way of extending his career and they want him to do it forever. So hopefully Hitch still has a few more years in him.
Good point
Speaking of local faces, they could still try and get Jess Adamson for something as prestigious as state politics. I donât think anyone is even appointed the âState Political Reporterâ as such on Nine. Harvey Biggs has been doing a lot of the political reporting but they could really do with a senior local name now that Rory McClarenâs left.
I have no doubt heâll do it as long as physically possible.
TJ has confirmed this on AW this morning.
Alicia is to be heir apparent to Hitch when it happens.
TJ has said he decided about a year ago that he doesnât want the chief news presenter post Hitch.
It is definitely the right move. At the moment weâre basically watching the future A team of Nine News Melbourne.
Lol Iâm sure he came to that decision all by himselfâŚ
A sensible choice TJ
Heâs got his eyes on Neil Mitchellâs role instead
