Hmmm… doesn’t sound good. Seems like she might be finishing out her contract?
She’s been at GTV 9 for over 40 years. Imagine how much long service leave she must have. It would be quite a significant move to ditch a much loved Melbourne institution after so many years. The viewer blowback would be fierce if Nine was seen to be treating her poorly. I doubt they’d risk it.

I don’t think she’s finished. But yes possible long service for a while.
Love Jo and hopefully we see her back on our screens soon end more than just reports!
Would love her to do the daytime updates again.

She never filled-in on the Melbourne evening news before the Regional news started, so i wouldn’t expect her to fill-in now either.
When she was the official weekend newsreader, she rarely filled-in on weeknights.
Not sure she will be ever seen as a fill in on the Melbourne evening news.

Not true. She was often used over the summer period (in the late 90s/2000s) as fill in for Pete. Heck they even read a few bulletins together on big news days.

She left the weekend news role in 2012. In the years in the lead up to that Tony Jones was filling in for Peter. Early on you’re right, Jo did fill in and I think they presented together on 9/11 for example.
She was the main fill in for Pete. Also, I believe from 2008-2012…. Her and Tony Jones both filled in for Pete over the summer. Tony would do 3 weeks / Jo did the other 3 weeks, usually January.

This was also the time she was reading Qantas inflight news.
I don’t think anyone is expecting her to fill-in for Pete anymore… that’s what Alicia is (should be) for. But, it seems like a waste not to use her to fill in on 4pm or weekends when she has been with your network reading for 40+ years. Since Jo read the local bulletins full-time, you can’t really buy that she doesn’t want to read anymore.
Looked last night. He’s become a bit shouty too.

Ah those were the days… Nine News on QANTAS and had totally forgotten about the 7pm Nine News on GEM.
Reviving a national edition of that 7pm news, or maybe now 7.30 on 9GEM (since ACA is now at 7pm on Nine) is an idea worth looking at?

That Adam Hegarty who recently joined GTV9 from QTQ9. After watching him the last few weeks or so, his reporting style is more suited to ACA.

Cameron Williams appeared to throw back to Pete one story too early tonight.
I didn’t catch the full interaction, but Cameron made a comment about needing to save time, it seemed like he was just joking?

To me, it seems as though Pete and Cam were informed that they were short on time and had to quickly wrap things up, but then the decision was changed at the last minute. I think Cam meant what he said, even if he laughed it off.

I watched (most of) Nine News Melbourne for the first time in ages today and was very impressed with what I saw.
My only issue was Adam Hegarty’s style of reporting. I think he’d be better suited to ACA.

Yeh agree. He’s too much. Altho he fits quite well with Santomartino and Butler. (And Lund Altho he’s gone now).
