Peter has surely proven that he is the preferred option for news in Sydney. Lots of attempts over the years by Seven to boost their share. Dual presenters is just the latest and it (along with Unstoppable, Horoscopes, Comedy Segments and The Bright Side ) hasn’t worked either.
Last Night a good example with Nine on 240,000 and Seven 180,000. Why would you change?
Just like back in the 20th century when Brian Henderson was the preferred option for Sydneysiders.
We know Seven pulled out all the stops but none worked until they poached Nine’s Ian Ross at the turn of this century.
I also recall someone saying “we were flattered that Seven had to poach someone from Nine” when Mark Ferguson defected to Seven in 2009 (when they seemingly had him among their plans for the post-Roscoe era).
I still hold the view that Nine appointed Overton in 2009 with a plan to return to the top once Roscoe’s time at Seven was up.
Speaking of ratings, it wasn’t just in the Queensland capital where Seven stamped its authority this week with their all-important 6pm flagship bulletins.
The big red bus rolled right over their rivals in four of the five-city metros on the first night of the fierce ratings war, with Melbourne the only holdout for Nine.
And all this despite Nine’s reality TV juggernaut Married At First Sight dominating the battle for eyeballs later in the evening!
This is in reference to the Sunday ratings. What did the MAFS later in the night have to do with anything when Seven has the cricket in the afternoon leading into 6pm?
And since then Nine News has won Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 5 city ratings since then by healthy margins winning all east coast markets.
Chilling CCTV has shown the moment the home of 9News presenter Dominique Loudon and NRL star Martin Lang was broken into, in what she described as a “really confronting” experience.
The couple’s Burleigh residence was the most recent target in a spate of crimes gripping the Gold Coast.
The sports presenter went on maternity leave in early February.
Is QLD still looking for a dual presenter format…? I still feel like Paul is a strong contender for the chair. His progression in his roles since joining Nine is quite strong.
