Thanks! I should know by now! I asked about her last year when she photobombed Dalts on his State Of Origin piece!
Amid other changes at Nine today, I believe the GC bulletin is moving to a single presenter format - shared between Taylor and Milic accordingly.
That could just about rule Taylor out of replacing Andrew Lofthouse on the Nine News Queensland desk, I feel.
Though I doubt this, they could lure Bill McDonald back to television, though I know he now has his own morning radio program on 4BC.
whatâs the point then? have one or the other.
Iâm putting my money on Jonathan Uptin getting the weeknight gig now in Queensland.
It is understood that viewers in the Northern Territory will now receive the Queensland news bulletin throughout the week, with that bulletin previously being shown in the NT on weekends.
Soften the blow a little bit by giving NT viewers their once familiar face.
Trying to think the last time there was a dual presenter bulletin on the Gold Coast. October?
Visually looks much cleaner as a single read bulletin, should never have changed IMO. The size and depth of the set just doesnât support it, and obviously the market not big (and arguably) important enough to warrant it.
Eva is already part time. Having them share across the week is what I suggested when they âretiredâ Bruce. Having no competition certainly no longer justifies the double header though, so it makes sense.
Clearly they donât care about Darwin. It would be a ridiculous thing to do. You want the best person for the Brisbane bulletin.
But why force Paul to go part-time then? Just Have 1 full time presenter.
Jonathan Uptin for Mon-Fri 9 News Queensland, Paul Taylor for Sat-Sun 9 News Queensland and Mon-Wed 9 Gold Coast News and Eva Milic for Thurs-Fri 9 Gold Coast News
Leaves Mia Glover out in the cold if she returns from maternity leave or she reads duel with Paul.
Mia was seen on the weekend doing weather on Today from the Gold Coast.
I would have the following:
Nine News Queensland weeknights - Jonathan Uptin and Melissa Downes with Paul Taylor on Sports
Nine News Gold Coast - Eva Milic (Monday-Wednesday) and Carla Tooma (Thursday-Friday), or even better, convince Wendy Kingston to come back and do 1 or 2 days a week on GC news.
Not sure if itâs been discussed, but Amber Sherlock has been MIA from Sydney News for a while? She was off most of December (it felt) then came back for a week or two earlier this month and hasnât been seen since.
Yeah I noticed that also.
Andrew has been taken out of the new Brisbane promo. Interestingly, they have an endtag with just Melissa. I only expected a presenter endtag when the new anchor started.
Mark burrows in Sydney for sunday
Much prefer this bulletin over Sevens product at Midday.
Among the frontrunners is current 9 Gold Coast News presenter Paul Taylor.
Known for his professionalism and longstanding commitment to the network, Taylor has been a key figure at the Gold Coast bulletin since 2016.
Another contender reportedly in the mix is Josh Bavas, who impressed viewers and industry professionals alike with his presenting during the summer break.
Sources have described Bavas as a âtrue professionalâ with the gravitas to step into Lofthouseâs shoes.
Adding to the mix is weekend presenter Mia Glover, with speculation mounting that she could move to weekdays to join Downes on the desk, forming an all-female presenting duo.
Glover, who stepped into the weekend bulletin anchor role in early 2023, is on maternity leave, having welcomed her second child, baby Winifred in October 2024.
Insiders suggest Downes may present solo until Gloverâs return, allowing the network time to weigh its options.
