Airlie isn’t the first pregnant woman in the world. Millions of workplaces don’t even provide staff parking. I don’t think it’s the employers responsibility to provide such a thing just because one is pregnant.
And the running around from job to job. It’s literally her role as a journalist. Maybe they could have provided more in office work but her role is predominantly on the road filing stories. She could have gone on maternity leave earlier maybe?
These just seem a little trivial in my opinion.
The one about fainting in court, again, perhaps more context is needed like what kind of support didn’t she receive for example.
TV Networks here are not safe places to work. They all have serious work ahead of them and Management all need to be sacked. It’s industry wide by the looks. Disgraceful.
Sent this lovely message to Brett McLeod on Wednesday:
Hi Brett, it’s great to have you back in Australia presenting Nine News in the lead up to Christmas, you’re doing an amazing job.
I’m a loyal Nine News viewer and I have enjoyed Alicia Loxley and Tom Steinfort presenting this year. They had great on air chemistry with each other and with Tony Jones and Livinia Nixon also. I met Tom in March this year when he was presenting on location in Ballarat the day Samantha Murphy had been announced murdered. I then met him again with Alicia at the Royal Melbourne Show in September when they were doing a meet and greet. I also met Livinia in July when she was presenting the weather in Ballarat for the Winter Festival.
I’ve enjoyed watching Peter Hitchener on weekends, but it’s not the same without Tony Jones and Livinia Nixon being at the desk with him, and I miss the banter between him and Tony also.
Thanks for accepting my follow request and keep up the good work presenting in the lead up to Christmas.
And he got back to me this morning:
Hi Jack.
Nice to hear from you and thanks very much for your kind thoughts.
It’s great to be back at GTV after more than 3 years away.
And how nice you’ve met so many of the on air team, they’re great people to work with.
All the best for Christmas and 2025.
Me: I haven’t yet met Peter Hitchener and that’s my biggest dream to meet him one day. Would be great to meet you also.
Fans of Nine News Queensland have noticed a glaring absence on their screens: Andrew Lofthouse, the beloved 62-year-old anchor, has been missing from the 6pm bulletin for over a month, sparking industry chatter and viewer speculation.
Lofthouse, a veteran journalist and household name, was last seen delivering the news on November 1. Since then, Melissa Downes has been flying solo on the nightly bulletin, leaving many to wonder — where is Lofthouse, and why has he vanished from Queensland’s airwaves?
Insiders at the Nine newsroom are reportedly scratching their heads, with whispers of everything from health concerns to behind-the-scenes upheaval fuelling the rumour mill.
“It’s unusual for someone like Lofty to vanish for so long without explanation,” one insider told Scoop.
Despite the swirling rumours, the Nine Network has remained tight-lipped about the sudden absence, only confirming to Scoop that Lofthouse is expected to return after the January Australian Open.
I remember Davina from when she was reading on WIN from Mt Lofty Toowoomba - last time I drove past it was looking very unloved now. It lives on as a UHF transmission site apparently.
Though she will mostly be reporting for ACA in Queensland, I think there is the chance she could fill in on Nine News Queensland as/when required, as she did in 2012 when Eva Milic went on maternity leave.
It’s still the base for WIN Toowoomba today but only houses a sole News Journalist, a Cammo/Editor and a Sales team with local news hosted out of Wollongong. Sad this is the remnants of a once great regional television station.
