Nine News Presenters and Reporters (2020-Feb 2025)

Bronte Gildea presented both Sport and Weather on the Brisbane bulletin tonight - not a set up I think I’ve seen before.

Clearly rostering dramas / people away at QTQ. Don’t think I’ve ever heard of that happening either…

Tonight in Melbourne there was a report about the search for a suspected stolen mini that had come to a dramatic end in the northern suburbs. Amber Johnston pronounced Saint Albans wrong, she pronounced it as Saint Alb bans. It’s pronounced Saint Allb bans.

Ok. And?

I get that it’s hardly a hanging offence but a local news reporter should hopefully be able to cope with pronouncing local placenames correctly. Not earth shattering by any means but probably shows just a lack of attention to detail. But I am not familiar with the reporter, maybe she is new to Melbourne or maybe she’s just never encountered the western suburbs before. She wouldn’t be the first reporter to do such a thing.

That’s the point. There’s a difference between labouring the point in a post as the original commenter did, and making the comment, as you have, that perhaps it’s not a good look.

It could also have been a slip of the tongue, as you say. If it happens again and again, for sure discuss it.

Perhaps I could have been less blunt and more clear in my comment, but I’m increasingly concerned this forum is becoming a catalogue of stuff-ups that hardly warrant commentary rather than actual issues or topics of consequence.

I’d be happy if Davina was transferred (if she wanted to).

Yeah she’s been away on the Morning and Arvo News lately

Isn’t she way too good to be doing reports from
Brisbane?

I get the impression it’s a personal choice for her?

We’ve seen other reporters / presenters leave SYD/MEL and return to ADL/BNE/PER before too.

Same impression here.

Would be a great fill-in at Nine News Queensland if she has moved back.

She has filled in on the Queensland bulletin many times before, notably in 2012 when Eva Milic was on maternity leave.

It was either her or Sophie Walsh (or maybe even both) who moved north in the wake of the 2011 Choppergate scandal.

An extended promo for Alicia and Tom this morning said “Sunday”, a shorter one just a moment ago now said “tonight”.

Wonder if they’ll keep promos running (but edited of course) from tomorrow, even though they’d have already started tonight? I think it’d be silly to stop, as many casual viewers/ not rusted on to a particular news service might still be unaware today is the date or not have been following the date closely. You’d be crazy not to capitalise on your biggest audience reacher of the year (bar Olympics) and keep the plugs running.

Tom Morris will make his debut as Chief Football Reporter alongside the new team in tonight’s sport segment.

Tom Steinfort is doing better than I expected, been in the job 15mins and already more interesting than the thunderbirds Seven has in Melbourne

I guess it’s allowed and anyone is entitled to an opinion, but in the context of Nine’s day today with the Aus Open starting, Nine News re-launching including new anchors and awaiting possible other changes… Is this comment really necessary?
