A surprisingly early placement in the bulletin for the “junket” flight to Bali report. At the this was airing on Nine, Chris Reason was on Seven reporting from Ukraine. Seven, of course, have a similar Bali report but in the second half of the bulletin. Also, looked like pool coverage interviews in Bali (no mic flags).

4 and 5pm bulletins across many channels don’t really align to the strict flow of a 6pm Main bulletin. Sometimes they even bounce off into a 10 min interview with someone on the desk.
I always have referred to these bulletins as more of a lite news model as such. Don’t forget they also use this lite model to lure in viewers, the Bali report will have pull/viewer will stay, hardcore news the folks will generally wait for 6pm. They are targeting different markets. The aim is to hold the viewer onto the following game show or whatever is on, 6pm bulletins don’t generally shred as many viewers throughout as say the 4pm does. You generally see some fluffy or other bullshit on the back half of these bulletins also, stuff that would never see the light of day at 6pm.
I have never sort of looked at a 4/5pm bulletin the same way I would at a 6pm. Who remembers the 3pm Nine News and the Chat Room they had. Entertainment fillers galore also.
