Community Service Announcement: The Showbag Launch Event for the 2020 Sydney Royal Easter Show is being held (or has been held) this afternoon.

I think even Media Spy members who live outside of NSW know which Nine News reporter is likely to be filing the reports on this, probably with excitement levels rivalling those of the lucky kids who get to roadtest the bags!

The Gold Coast newsroom has lost another reporter in Maggie Raworth, who is returning home to Melbourne to presumably be a reporter in the GTV newsroom.

As was expected, Mike Dalton’s 6pm bulletin report on Showbag Launch 2020 was fantastic. How Peter Overton didn’t crack up with that ending, I’m not sure!

By comparison, the equivalent pieces on Seven & 10 News First (which I have seen online) treated the same event as if it was a fairly serious news item rather than a light on substance piece of fluff/puff which is quite appropriate to have fun with and inject some personality into. For those wondering why I often talk about Dalts’ reports on Media Spy - this is the reason.

I think her return to Melbourne may be for personal reasons; it’s worth nothing her younger brother died just before Christmas last year.
