Someone will probably become a pay per piece stringer working from home, perfect for Nine. No workplace obligations etc…
Assume there are some already up there, for the odd occasion 10 or 7 have Darwin vision. Stringer gets vision, story is compiled interstate.
If they do it right, I doubt people would care too much about a 10-15 second portion of the segment.
Are they also reading our posts here too lol? ![]()
By turning off comments, you essentially want your viewers to go and watch news from Brisbane. That’s exactly what Nine is trying to do. They’re hoping that by removing comments relating to the Darwin bulletin axing, the negativity surrounding this whole thing will die down. But nope, there will still be a place to complain about the Darwin bulletin axing, right here on MS! ![]()
Other places to complain about Nine are available
You do know Nine have a bunch of other social media accounts + talkback radio stations if you want to complain
And a whole list of places to write and phone.
How ironic, they list an NT address.
Just don’t write to the Newcastle one. ![]()
It’s not ironic. They still have an office there.
Bianca Wylie has departed Nine Darwin - and appears the role won’t be filled again.

Heres an idea.
Instead of paying whatever it costs to light up parts of Perth, you put the money into running a news service in the NT.
You know it makes sense.
What did I miss?

Nine remains committed to finding a long-term solution for a news presence in the Northern Territory. | Nine Spokesperson
Um, are you sure about that?
You’ve almost got no one at Nine reporting for the NT anymore. Everyone’s leaving because almost none of the news is about the NT, it’s all about the Sunshine State. And all to protect the Brisbane/Gold Coast ratings. Quite simply put - no local news bulletin, no reporters. Kinda like how the current Tasmanian Devils AFL situation is at the moment - no stadium, no team.
Nine need to just give up at this point and stop trying to find replacements because quite simply put, everyone is defecting to the ABC. The viewers want and need their local news on TV. Voices and communities need to be heard. Unless Seven launches a composite one-hour long bulletin for the NT, then more and more viewers will get settled into ABC’s NT news.
I say at this rate Nine should just stop covering the NT altogether (if there’s still any minor mentions of it at all) and let the ABC (and now hopefully Seven) take care of this. NTD needs to just pack up and leave, and let a complete full-time dirty feed of QTQ-9 Brisbane take the reigns. Everything about Nine in the NT now is about Queensland, the news, the sport, and even the weather forecast. No NT news on Nine, just entirely about the Sunshine State.
I reckon Seven will be smart enough (if they have the cash to do so) to launch an hour-long news bulletin that could air nightly instead of the weekday format like what Nine had been doing until that bulletin was axed. It would be a smart move after all.
I am sure Nine have no intention unless they can rustle up a free resource to do noodle updates for them. They were lucky to get their bulletin back after COVID considering how small that market is.
