Need to update their promo to reflect new backdrop. Shouldn’t the v/o be 9News Gold Coast rather than 9 Gold Coast News?
I prefer “Nine Gold Coast News”…. They could leave that one alone it’s the only local news bulletin on the network.
In speech it’s always been called “9 Gold Coast News”.
Not quite the same, but the opening v/o “this is Adelaide’s (National) 9 News” dates back at least to the dot-less NNN era.
Updates tonight on Nine Melbourne have been pre-recorded and don’t have the result of the byelection. Pretty poor from the current number one news service.
Good slant for the promo! That VO sounds a bit muddied with the SFX at the start though.

Oh ffs. What a load of shit. They increased their vote you idiot. And a swing against them… no it wasn’t, it was the previous One Nation vote that just went to the LNP.
Shows a total misunderstanding of what happened.
And the swing is a typical one that every government experiences in a by-election (except maybe for the Aston one in 2023), not like a blowout of 10% or anything. The Coalition certainly wasn’t exempt from it either.
Both Nine and Seven seem so ever partisan even though they portray themselves as ‘every angle’ in promoting political coverage.
Can Nine Melbourne seriously make up their mind on their studio presentation. The weekend sport preview needs to be presented for the desk. It looks shit being presented from the left hand side TV screen area. And the backdrop needs to be zoomed out to what it looked like between 2009 and 2024.
I don’t mind the standing sports preview. They need to be more creative in how they use the set - its still quite static.
