He’s clearly drunk. Do you people not go outside of your mothers’ basements? :joy::joy::joy:

Very true!

It’s a wonder he made it onto the bed at all though.

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.

Where’s the half-eaten pie next to him? Where’s the partially filled sick bucket next to the bed? Think!

In the latest installment of “TCN and NBN needlessly competing for stories” - the opening of the NetWorld suspended trampoline park in Ourimbah State Forest up on the Central Coast:

Of course despite that photo and Dalts giving it a retweet, both stations made sure their “competitor” wasn’t seen in each other’s report if the clips posted online are anything to go by.

Personally I’m quite torn as to which station should’ve backed off and let the other cover the story for both NBN and TCN. On the one hand, I’m obviously a fan of Mike Dalton’s quirky reporting style (to say I’m looking forward to Dalts’ reporting of the Sydney media’s favourite event this week is probably an understatement) but at the same time, think it’d be really good to see NBN News reporters like Skaie Hull get an occasional appearance on Nine News Sydney.

The Australian has revealed Nine’s team for their election night coverage. Hosts will be Peter Overton and Deborah Knight, along with Chris Uhlmann, Julie Bishop, Tanya Plibersek, Anthony Albanese and Peter Costello.

Posted here as the election night thread is locked.

That’s a reasonably good selection of hosts/panellists IMO.

Judging by the sound of things, Seven is once again left with the dregs and sub-par panelists like they always do for election coverage. Seems like Nine/ABC always gets first dibs on those who are good.

You just won’t let this go, will you?

NBN would - or should - have had a very local focus with this story … what would it mean for the local economy, boost to tourism, probably a local business leader or two interviewed. All the stuff people watch local news for.

TCN would - or should - have had a different focus, profiling the park, getting a bit of light colour for the Sunday bulletin, hence the choice of reporter. A very different story.

So why on earth would TCN want a local story?

considering these two hate each others’ guts, it will sure be interesting

Huh? There’s more than 3 politicians in Australia. Plus, Julia Bishop is retiring.

Furthermore, Tanya Plibersek is as boring as the come. I’ll be sure to put Ch9 on if I want to get to sleep early that night.

Who is Julia Bishop?

Your joking right? Former Foreign Minister. Long serving MP…

Julie.

Yes, I think someone is trying to have a joke about Julia being written instead of Julie.

Ah right…still waking up here so wasnt paying close enough attention :joy:

Why should I stop pointing out needless duplication by the network? Only one of Nine or NBN should be reporting on it, allowing for the other to file an additional story that otherwise mightn’t be told.

If Seven or Ten also owned their regional affiliates, I’d be saying exactly the same thing. But obviously they don’t at this point in time, so the focus is on Nine and their use of metro/regional news teams covering the same stories (particularly in relation to Sydney & Northern NSW).

Because I’ve just outlined why it’s not “needless duplication”. They serve two different markets, for which viewers expect a different story angle.

I agree with this.

Though if it’s of major national significance such as a murder, I think TCN should cover it which gives NBN more resources to cover local issues since they have fewer reporters.

All news services try to position themselves as being one you can reliably turn to for the big stories, so in my opinion it’s not really appropriate for some stories to be treated as if they’re too big for NBN (or Nine’s regional bulletins) to cover on their own.

Personally I can understand if Nine News Sydney reporters have to help out other stations for coverage of things like major disasters/tragedies, but other than that I prefer to see stories from locally-based reporters wherever possible (which it should be 99% of the time). There’s not much better than seeing stories presented from locally based reporters who know their area inside out and on the flipside, there’s not much worse than “Sydneyfied” coverage from TCN which at times has incorrectly presented basic regional NSW geography which really should’ve been taught in primary school.

Sad day for the Channel 9 Darwin as they leave Gardens Hill Studios to relocate to a new location into the CBD. Would be interesting to see if they hold an auction for some of the stuff in the current building? https://www.facebook.com/9NewsDarwin/videos/280701796182257/
