Nine News Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Is it possible that the Melbourne presenting team may have also flown over to Perth to film promos at some stage during the closing months of 2016?

Anyway for what they’re worth, a few snapshots of tonight’s Nine News Sydney since it was the first “weekend” bulletin to be presented from the new set:

The old set still lives on (for now at least) via the end of the “Hope 103.2” simulcast promo which is only played before the final ad break on Friday nights:

Deb looks fantastic in that set!

Fairly quite night in Perth?

Deb and Erin looked very comfortable presenting from the new set, tonight - considering it’s their first time presenting from it. I think the girls handled it better than Pete and especially Cam who still looks uncomfortable when he’s presenting from the catwalk. :joy:

Great promo. I know it is similar to Sydney’s but I am glad Nine News Melbourne have adapted the promo to suit the city’s preference. Melbourne’s is more humble.

Last night, Nine News Perth played the “This is Nine News… with Tim McMillan and Emmy Kubainski.” when Emmy was solo.

Great to see some set consistency it’s next to impossible to tell which set is who’s. Hard to tell if that’s the Melbourne or Perth set, the only giveaway is that extra weather screen there so could be Melbourne.

Icing on the cake would be Adelaide and Brisbane to get the same deal. Seven got a bit of work to do to replicate this standard. Seven Brisbane and Adelaide sets are just embarrassing compared to this.

It will be good to see a complete national look for Nine once Brisbane and Adelaide have been updated. Brisbane is long overdue (as were Perth, Sydney and Melbourne). I reckon that Adelaide will be the last bulletin to update as their set is much newer when compared to the other metro sets (which Adelaide ditched in 2014).

Seven hasn’t had a national look for its news bulletin sets since mid-2000s until early-2010s with the “wood and curved grey panels” set. Quite a shame as most of Seven’s subsequent sets have been dreadful. They should use the Melbourne set as inspiration for a new national look.

However, I think that Adelaide has a pretty good set. Other bulletin’s uses of blue plasma screens everywhere come across to me as tacky, whereas Melbourne and Adelaide’s more limited use of tacky blue screens in favour of a silver and red scheme with blue accents looks much better. The Melbourne set could have better lighting, though. The desk looks too dark.

It was Skyworks night. Tim was live from the celebrations up the Brookfield Tower.

7 do the same with Sue in studio and Rick on location in Kings Park.

Didn’t they move their set from Tynte St to Pirie St?

I think Brisbane will be the last to get the new set, as they’ll do it to coincide with their upgrade to HD, making it the most time consuming update.

Agree and they have the smallest studio from my understanding.

What about Darwin? :stuck_out_tongue:

Good point, they’ll definitely be last. They’ll probably not even get the new set.

I think if they were ever to get the new set it would be modified quite a bit to save money and due to space constraints.

Unless they move into another larger unused studio at QTQ.

Perth got their previous set around the same time as Adelaide IIRC

Actually I think it was rebuilt, because I remember their final bulletin from Tynte Street they had a preview/look back and their was scenes of the team making a promo in the new studio with the desk behind them. Unless they moved the set to Pirie Street to film the promo, and moved it back for the last bulletin in Tynte Street and moved it once more.

According to Nine Perth, they will be telecasting Live and Local news from 4PM on the 30 Jan. Most of the other states will have nationally news coming from Sydney Studios. The only thing that came into mind was the fact that Perth is 3 hours behind the eastern states (DS). When its Standard Time, Perth will be 2 hours behind.

IMO it’s rather obvious that Nine News Adelaide will most likely get their new set before Nine News Brisbane who really need upgrades to their equipment. Infact, I’m actually willing to predict that QTQ may not get their new set (and other essential upgrades) until the 2nd half of the year.

Darwin will probably get something like Sydney’s current set when TCN moves out of Willoughby in a few years time, just like how their last set upgrade was Nine News Melbourne’s set from the old Richmond studios.

Personally, I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if even NBN/Nine Northern NSW is above Nine Darwin on the list of stations to next get a new news set.

SBS has axed NITV League Nation Live that used one of the QTQ studios, so that’s probably free.

Given NBN is set to move sometime in the next couple of years, they probably won’t get a set upgrade until they move.

So Darwin may still get a new one before NBN.
