Nine News Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Also not sure how flattering it is to have Bruce positioned between two taller ladies and turned sideways with his belly hanging out across Wendy’s arm…

And the thing is the Gold Coast shot is done in life, where I believe the channel 7 shot is would be individual green screen images that people have then used cgi or whatever to combine them (I’m not a pro, so sorry about the terms)

Photoshopped would be the term your looking for. :paintbrush:

Bruce still looks like one of those cheesy uncles you would find at the ‘Mr Paigey’s home for the elderly’. But we all know that they won’t touch him for as long as he wants to present on the Gold Coast.

Yep, that’s it, you know I didn’t know that term, just wasn’t coming to my kind!

Interesting to hear!

Would I be right by guessing that “new set launch” promos for Nine News Queensland will likely be airing soon?

So that means Nine News Queensland will finally be in HD. Can someone tell me whether Ten and Seven are HD yet? I recall thinking Seven News was HD.

Pretty silly that the ABC’s Southbank studios aren’t HD capable. They have the newest facilities of any broadcaster out of Brisbane.

The only HD news currently seen in Brisbane are national bulletins e.g. Ten on weekends and Seven mornings.

I don’t think any ABC News studio is in HD (maybe the previous ‘News 24’ studio?). Happy to be corrected on this though.

100 percent that Nine news will finally be in HD. HD studios were part of this massive upgrade.
This will make Nine the first true HD broadcaster in all metro areas.

Of course Darwin and the Canberra bureau will likely still be doing SD production in the foreseeable future, but it will be good to see the vast majority of bulletins produced by Nine News in HD.

BTW, it’s only live studio cameras/graphics which are actually native HD on the Sydney-produced bulletins of Seven & Ten. As far as I’m aware, Nine is currently the only Australian network to be shooting news vision in native HD from the field. In Sydney at least, that even extends to having most (if not all) live crosses in HD.

Does anyone know why? Surely networks are using HD field cameras?

Pretty sure this is also the case here in Melbourne.

Also from tonight’s bulletin…

But unfortunately it’s not all good, the Aldi “Special Report” disease that has taken over Nine News Queensland now seems to have made it’s way South!

Of course, it was branded as a “First on Nine” report and we were told about a couple of the amazing savings to be made at Aldi!

it’s the servers at the station being HD capable - and the space needed for the vision etc.

not hard or impossible, just not fully realised yet.

I wonder what will happen to this iconic studio and quintessential backdrop when the new Mt Coot-tha studio is finished :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I managed to capture that… also did you see the minor timing error switching between feeds from Sydney to QTQ? I don’t know if Brisbane got it… but definitely on the Gold Coast.
