Ah - thereâs just no pregame on 9, thereâll probably be a watermark listed for QLD âWatch pregame on 9Nowâ or something before Riverfire starts then.
This is the 3rd consecutive year that this has happened. Nine probably wonât mention 9Now as they want all eyes on Nine.
Surprising considering QLD is a league state, wouldnât they want the BVOD figures still for diehard league fans?
Forces them to watch Riverfire while waiting for the NRL - help increase Riverfireâs ratings.
I guess if they are die hard they will find it on 9Now. You would think the FTA rights holder would be able to find one channel out of 5 to give coverage of the pre-match though.
Doesnât 9 have certain requirements with the NRL for broadcasting? If so, wouldnât a pre-game be one of them, and it would probably rate better for a movie repeat that 9Go! has.
I think Nine want to keep the focus on the main channel and they feel that NRL fans would be happy to watch Riverfire in preference to the league build up. It is a massive rater, nearly always the number one show on the Saturday it is shown. In 2021 it was on AFL GF day and it easily outrated that. Last year it had 247,000 while the NRL that followed had 74,000.
The Nine, 9Gem and 9Go schedule has been updated for all markets. There are some differences from original assumptions including some afternoon live Paralympics on the main channel in Perth (but not disrupting Tipping Point).
Very interesting, itâs almost been a year now since a general casting notice went out for what sounded like it was for this series âseeking senior singlesâ.
Also surprised 9 would attempt this given Seven tried a Bach spin-off with âThe Proposalâ which didnât fire, and also the network didnât commission another season of My Mum Your Dad which is in a similar vein.
Iâd have thought the general lack of interest in the Bachelor name / format in Australia alone would have been enough to turn this series down.
A DAZZLING EVENING AWAITS WHEN . . .
LIGHTS UP BRISBANE
SATURDAY, AUGUST 31, FROM 6.00PM AEST
ON CHANNEL 9 & 9NOW
Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust is set to dazzle the Brisbane skyline on Saturday night, with Nineâs exclusive coverage capturing every breathtaking moment following a special bulletin of 9News Queensland from 6.00pm AEST on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Riverfire sparks the start of Brisbane Festival 2024, our annual festival celebration. The spectacular fireworks display will transform the river city on an evening that also features the crowd-favourite aerobatic performances by the C17 and ARH Tiger Helicopters and an F/A 18 Hornet from the Australian Defence Force. Brisbanites and visitors will flock from near and far to the riverbanks to secure prime viewing spots for an unforgettable night of celebration.
Among the premier vantage points in the city is Flight Centre HQ, where 9News Queensland will bring viewers the latest news headlines before the exclusive coverage of the fireworks extravaganza erupts.
This year marks the 14th time Queenslandâs longest standing and leading presenting duo, Melissa Downes and Andrew Lofthouse of 9News Queensland, have hosted Riverfire.
Andrew Lofthouse said: âThe skyâs the limit with Riverfire â it just gets better every year. The entire city sparkles, and the view from Flight Centre is unmatched. After covering the Olympics in Paris and seeing the Eiffel Tower light up each night, I can confidently say that our Riverfire is a standout experience.
âThe excitement, energy and thrills are unparalleled. Brisbane is so lucky to witness this event, and weâre always excited to be able to share it with viewers from all corners.â
Melissa Downes said: âRiverfire brings us immense joy every year. It illuminates our great city in a way that truly showcases its beauty, and each time we fall in love with it all over again. Itâs such a highlight of the year, and we are fortunate to have one of the best vantage points to take in every stunning moment.â
As crowds gather across the city in anticipation, Queenslanders statewide will have the opportunity to experience the Riverfire spectacle from every angle, uninterrupted, for the duration of Nineâs broadcast.
Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust will burst onto TV screens this Saturday, August 31, after a special bulletin of 9News Queensland from 6.00pm AEST on Channel 9 and 9Now.
If Nine doesnât want Osher Gunsberg to host The Golden Bachelor, then Today Extraâs David Campbell will be a great choice for the role.
Some changes posted above to tonightâs schedule for AFL states.
If Osher does follow the format to Nine, it will be interesting to see if The Masked Singer also moves across as well. You would think Nine would want to sign him for more than one show or role.
I reckon Osher will want to be a freelancer rather than being tied to a network. While he is still a narrator for Bondi Rescue on 10, he was a guest host of a recent episode of The Art of on ABC TV, and had also appeared on SBS.
I think if Nine take the show then they should probably go with a new host. It needs to be a fresh relaunch and The Golden Bachelor will have a different feel too.
For those outside of Brisbane who would like to watch the fireworks, I recorded 9HD Brisbane broadcast of Riverfire 2024 fireworks. The city was alight after a very hot winterâs day of 35C up here in Brissy!
Can I ask - what exactly is Riverfire?
