It happens every single new year. In Melbourne e.g, it broadcasts a few minutes into New Year’s Day right after the City of Melbourne NYE Fireworks broadcast.
Essentially put, Nine begins their City of Melbourne NYE coverage LIVE from 11pm for Melbourne/Geelong and Regional Victorian (WIN) viewers, then the fireworks display from Melbourne’s cityscapes and skylines are broadcast LIVE beginning from midnight, and then once the fireworks display is over, or simply after a few minutes, the broadcast ends and the 1980 movie Can’t Stop The Music begins.

ITVS has also shopped My Wife, My Abuser: Captured on Camera to more than 60 markets, having also done a global deal for the show with Netflix.

Is this the first time the Sydney to Hobart has been on Nine? Hasn’t Seven and 10 had the rights (not together obviously) for ages?

As discussed on Nine Sports Broadcasting thread, Nine had revealed at the 2025 upfronts in late October that it would broadcast Sydney to Hobart yacht race for the first time.
