My recording from 9NBN had Secrets Of The Pickpockets (for 1hr) between Thursday Night NRL and AFL Footy Show. I assume 9NBN is following the Sydney schedule.

Soundbreaking is a good get for Nine and could do well against moderate opposition on other networks in the same timeslot. Given the documentary aired on public channel PBS in the US I think it would have suited for SBS here.
The problem (still) for Nine, is the season length of The Voice.
With the current TV landscape, if Nine want to be super competitive with & try to beat Seven in year to date ratings, how can they with their highest-rating series The Voice, only having around 18 eps???
If The Voice aired every Wednesday and Thursday (when there is no NRL), the show should be finished up within a few weeks or so
Which is just giving Ten bigger advantages with the 8th season of MasterChef (given House Rules’ poor ratings).
How hard is it for Nine to have talks with Endemol Shine Australia, to make double the amount of eps or something at least!?
Thoughts?
There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Why would you want it to be a bloated mess like Masterchef and MKR? ![]()
The Voice is already too long in my opinion. ![]()
Yeh i agree the last thing we need is a dragged out voice. They already drag the blind auditions out for too long.
SOUNDBREAKING: THE ULTIMATE SERIES ON MUSIC
Monday 9 May at 9.00pm
Music lovers will be treated to a truly unique documentary series when the Nine Network presents SOUNDBREAKING, from Monday, May 9, at 9.00pm.
Made in association with the late “fifth Beatle”, producer George Martin, SOUNDBREAKING is an eight-part music odyssey that features appearances and interviews with more than 150 of the world’s most celebrated recording artists – including original interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Roger Daltrey, Dave Grohl, Roger Waters, Tom Petty and Elton John, as well as internationally renowned producers and music industry pioneers.
Music has been a constant in human history, an intermingling of voice and instrument that for all its variation and increasing sophistication has endured in more or less the same form for centuries. Then came recording – and music was forever transformed. SOUNDBREAKING traces this ongoing sonic revolution and explores the nexus of cutting-edge technology and human artistry that has created the soundtrack of our lives.
SOUNDBREAKING charts a century’s worth of innovation and experimentation, and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the birth of brand new sounds.
From The Beatles’ groundbreaking use of multi-track technology to the synthesised stylings of Stevie Wonder, from disco-era drum machines to the modern art of sampling, the series highlights the dynamic tension between the artificial and the natural, between the man-made and the God-given. It explores the way this tension has continuously redefined not only what we listen to and how, but our very sense of what music is and can be.
In the end, SOUNDBREAKING makes us hear the songs we love in a whole new way and illuminates the sonic alchemy by which the music we listen to becomes a fundamental part of who we are.
Artists featured include: Adele, Christina Aguilera, Afrika Bambaataa, The Beach Boys, The Beastie Boys, The Beatles, The Bee Gees, Jeff Beck, Beck, Beyoncé, The Black Keys, Blondie, James Brown, Johnny Cash, Neneh Cherry, Cher, Chick, Cream, Roger Daltrey, Miles Davis, Devo, Dr Dre, Sheila E, Brian Eno, Paul Epworth, The Eurythmics, Fleetwood Mac, Marvin Gaye, Nigel Godrich, The Grateful Dead, Ben Harper, Jimi Hendrix, Bon Iver, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Quincy Jones, Little Richard, Madonna, George Martin, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Giorgio Moroder, Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Public Enemy, Bonnie Raitt, Radiohead, Smokey Robinson, Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, The Rolling Stones, Rick Rubin, Run D.M.C., RZA, Carlos Santana, Frank Sinatra, Sly and the Family Stone, Phil Spector, Donna Summer, Ringo Starr, U2, Suzanne Vega, Don Was, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, The Who, Stevie Wonder, Wu Tang Clan.
AGT failed. Now 9 is advertising Britain’s Got Talent. Is their cupboard that bare???
It would seem so - the (currently embargoed) schedule for 2 weeks time is very “sparse”. Couldn’t believe that BGT was in it.
Do they still have the rights to Person of Interest, as a legacy of the WB contract? It should fill some late night timeslot.
Sounds riveting for 9pm Monday. Not.
They are devoting a lot of time to promoting this shit. Clearly they have nothing else aside from the voice.
Nine had nothing for the 7.30pm timeslot so it had to show Britain’s Got Talent especially with The Voice reducing the number of episodes per week progressively.
How could they even think BGT is going to do well on Nine when AGT was such a flop?
