Nine (NBN)

Hey Seven…ever wondering what it’d be like to win at 6pm with a local product in Newcastle? Here’s your chance.

Sad news, was a start date given?

Or are we still anticipating September sometime?

I’ll be interested to see if they try… but part of me doubts there is enough money in regional TV these days to make it worthwhile… If this had happened say 10 years ago, definitely.

I hope they get made to. Time to see if “Big” Dan Repacholi and his fellow pollies actually kick up enough of a stink to make sure standards, whatever they are are kept, or they whack the networks with a big stick.

They won’t, because we all know Canberra are mass media’s little bitch.

Nine and NBN and WIN will be one soon enough. Jesus, please take Bruce and WIN management for a Sunbeam.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that Nine never had the balls to do something so drastic with NBN, so they handballed it to WIN, which they’ll eventually buy out (or which will buy them out) when Bruce shuffles off the mortal coil.

No, I think you’ll be proven right. It’s happened at Ten, it’s happened at Seven. This is likie someone on death row getting a temporary repreve before the inevitable happens.

If someone has enough dosh to buy out the Gordons, they get WIN and that stake in Nine. They could use that stake to force a buyout/merger. And guess who is reunited?

It’s like Donald Trump doing something stupid. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.

June 27.

I know it won’t happen, but wouldn’t it be funny if NBN (which will probably be rebranded WIN soon) dropped to number 3 between 5pm and 7:30pm weekdays, especially in markets that have Seven Local News. Just imagine if 10 ended up beneficiaries of WINs stupidity.

From June 27, viewers could watch 10 News or The Chase Australia, then Seven News or 10 News+ and Deal Or No Deal, then Millionaire Hot Seat or Home And Away - thats if you want to boycott NBN under WIN ownership

As I said it would be funny if it happened. If it did, would WIN care though?

Maybe this might be worth considering if 10’s content in those timeslots performed well literally anywhere, but it doesn’t.

Considering NBN is 90 percent identical to TCN, including branding wise, the average viewer is unlikely to notice a difference.

Until they turn on the six o clock news and wonder why it’s telling them about a bus strike in Camden.

More like a hyperlocal story about a supermarket fire in Albury

Anyone check if WIN Gold has moved from NRN to NBN markets yet? It won’t be long.

It hadn’t as at yesterday as the ‘Network Name’ ID was still ‘NBN’ on the LCN 8x range.

Main channel was still SD and had the original naming conventions etc.

And the ACMA radcom database still has the client listed as NBN Limited. The ownership register has been updated.

I figured WIN Gold was basically part payment for the services WIN are continuing to provide to NRN under the terms of the sale - I can’t see them deciding to just forget it and not get whatever the maximum is that Ten are scheduled to give them under the terms of the purchase.

Other than it not being incremental revenue when they can air it on their own multiplex, there’s no real downside to WIN in keeping it going for as long as originally agreed.

Have we had any word on changes to the home of WIN Gold?

I assume it could be 1 July or 1 September

When are they moving it to the bin?

I suspect it will be whenever playout gets moved over, so probably before 29 June now so they can play out their news bulletins.

And I think at the same time, LCN 8 will go HD in line etc with the rest of the WIN Network. Which will mean that some TVs will need a rescan, something WIN will need to start promoting soon in that case.

Good call
