Seven News report:
Seven News Sydney live report at Nine’s new HQ in North Sydney
why would he wait? The CEO would not be involved in the logistics of the move
Nine News Sydney just had a brief voiceover item on Hugh Marks’s resignation. No mention of the affair. Just “it was the right time to move on”.
Of course they’d say that. You don’t think they’re going to stick the boot in whilst he’s still there.
Free advertising for A Current Affair on that report. Funny that Robert (towards the end) says ‘Nine is the biggest media company’, putting down the Seven Network.
Has it that putting down Seven? It is a fact that Nine and News are bigger than Seven.
These kinds of relationships can be fraught with danger and many businesses dont allow them (especially for senior management) - its obviously also attracting unwanted attention and Nine dont want to carry the risk.
Marks made such an impact at the company in a relatively short time too!
The paparazzi scum from Matrix Pictures found Alexi Baker in Kings Cross this afternoon then sold their video and images to the Daily Mail.
Yep. Well summed up. It’s not a matter of “being adults”, it’s the complexities around the company needing to cover itself in the face of legal action. If the person is, as has been reported, reported to Marks it’s potentially a breach of contract.
Only need to look at the messy Tim** Worner debacle…
And it also puts them in a compromising position when it comes to HR matters such as contracts, promotions etc. And is not a good look when employers obviously would prefer employees to not be emotionally involved with others in the same organisation as it often doesn’t end well. For the CEO to be one of those, well…
Tim Worner?
Yeah, that guy! Ha
Strangely enough Marks is the second consecutive CEO at Nine to have had a relationship with someone in the business, I guess another example of how times have changed. Possibly what I call smoke and mirrors (optics) but that is how it is in a 24/7 news cycle.
Slight difference though - Leila McKinnon didn’t directly report to the CEO.
Obviously long before he was CEO.
The issue here is the reporting lines. Even before he was CEO, Gyngell wasn’t a news department manager. Very separate issue.
Rumour has it that either Tom Malone or Mike Sneesby are strong contenders to be the next NEC CEO.
