Nine Cricket Coverage

Due to rain delay at SCG, 9Gem replayed a Australia v West Indies match during the 2018 WT20.

Australia will meet India at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final at the MCG on Sunday after narrowly winning tonight’s semi-final against South Africa at the SCG. Nine should get massive ratings for the match and (with Married at First Sight and 60 Minutes on the main channel) achieve a whopping audience share matching the night of Australian Open men’s singles final on February 2 this year (45.9% network share).

Will be DVRing it as I will be at the MCG for it. Wonder if they will show the Pre and Post match Katy Perry concert. Or just the talking heads in the studio crapping on about nothing.

Nine will not show the post match Katy Perry concert although Fox Cricket could.

Are these times correct? Because the match itself starts at 6pm AEDT.

The original schedule for GEM had the game at 6pm, but the update just provided this morning has 4.30 pm

It would have been good to see Nine air the final on the main channel, though I guess realistically that wasn’t going to happen - even with Australia in the final.

As if they were going to bump MAFS…

Nine should have bumped MAFS and show the women’s T20 World Cup final on main channel. The 1992 and 2015 Cricket World Cup final (both played at the MCG) were both shown on main channel.

Though the men’s competition has always attracted much more interest.

it SHOULD be on the main channel

they SHOULD be at the ground not in studio

they SHOULD show the Opening Ceremony

but it is Channel Nine so they WON’T

Oh, come on! If Seven & Ten were in the same situation, I’m 100% sure they’d also prioritise their highest rating program over the women’s T20 World Cup final.

Nine can’t be at the ground as it holds secondary rights. Star Sports is host broadcaster so can hold its coverage from the ground.
Not sure about Fox Cricket though.

Nine aren’t going to pay the exuberant amount of money Star Sports is charging for ground rights.

Spot on. Don’t forgot they keep Sunrise on instead of test cricket in Perth.

Ten could be the exception to the rule, Bathurst, they pushed their line up back.

But 10 don’t have such a big following/any viewers that they would be losing by putting Bathurst/Supercars/Flemington/any other event in the place of news or another program, spare maybe HYBPA? or I’m a Celebrity.

Agreed.

I’d even go as far as saying that we probably should be thankful Nine is even televising the women’s T20 World Cup final at all (similar deal with all womens sporting codes/events), since it’s unlikely that this sort of thing would’ve been shown during the pre-multichannel era of only five main services.
